| Dhanda on 19:58 - Aug 18 with 2514 views | jackrabbit | Why has he played his last game for the club? He was having a good game last night and was unlucky to be substituted, to the extent that the manager found it necessary to explain the decision after the game. | | | |

Having a good game? Do you genuinely believe that?

Of course Dhanda was having a blinder, that's why the manager hooked him off early.

Well I saw one decent forward pass all night - a long pass slid inside their full back, perfectly weighted for Bidwell to run on to without breaking stride. That was just before he was taken off. As I said, Martin has gone out of his way to explain the substitution and that Dhanda had been doing all right. Who exactly was more creative in midfield last night? [Post edited 18 Aug 2021 21:45]

Well until we manage to get Kevin de Bruyne on loan, he’s the only player we’ve got who will try the killer pass. Certainly Grimes couldn’t pass water unless it’s back to the goalkeeper. And I’ve not witnessed any other midfield maestros apart from some early outings of Hourihane last season. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

What else would you expect a manager to say about a player he hooked very early in a game ? It's not as if he hasn't been subbed early before.

Was he distinctly the worst player in the team last night? Really? I wonder if he’d stayed on would he have been able to take a decent corner kick? That would’ve been nice. I find his special singling out for abusive criticism quite curious, considering the ineptness we witnessed last night all over the field.

Curious care to elaborate on that? Dhanda is a crap footballer who is nowhere near championship level, are you implying I have any other reason for posting about him?

I don't believe he was the worst player on the pitch certainly prior to him coming off, there were many candidates for that dubious honour , Flynn Downes was pretty anonymous but other names are available

Thanks. It’s good to see somebody addressing one of the questions I’ve posed, instead of just uttering opinionated statements disguised as definitive certainties - ‘ Dhanda is a crap footballer blah blah’ . All I can say is that’s your opinion. You’re welcome to it. I disagree with you. It’s a free country. End of …as they say.

Dhanda is a good player, anyone could have been dragged off other night, he certainly wasn't the worst midfielder or forward at the time, very good footballer with good feet and not afraid to carry ball unlike some.
| Dhanda on 08:35 - Aug 19 with 2000 views | Dr_Winston | Seemed fairly obvious that the withdrawl of Dhanda was tactical rather than a reflection on his performance. If it was about subbing off the worst player there's a significant list of candidates who could have gone first, starting with the skipper. | |

| Dhanda on 10:52 - Aug 19 with 1913 views | NotLoyal | I find Dhanda a very limited footballer, he may well be decent to some but I don't see him imposing himself on games etc. Just dancing about and causing little damage to the opposition. | |

Doesn't seem to like the physicality of most Championship opposition either.

I thought it was rhetorical. I don’t know if you have an agenda with regards to Dhanda - why would you? - and I don’t particularly care. I just find it curious that he’s singled out for pretty vitriolic constant criticism. I’ve described a pass he made on Tuesday night. It’s the sort of pass I like to see midfielders making. That and Bidwell’s cross for Pirao’s goal were the sum total of the football I saw the Swans play on Tuesday night. We have players who can’t pass accurately 10 yards forward. Why pick on Dhanda?

That is correct but he is our most creative player, he was taken off because we cant or are to slow transitioning through midfield. This was happening last year as well mind under Potter, we need to get pace out wide not Bidwell and Lati they are not good enough to play WB. we need to give the manager and new players time to sort this out. I am worried though we are inexperienced at the back and no pace to get us out of trouble by playing in behind and keeping defences squashing us in.
| Dhanda on 21:19 - Aug 22 with 1448 views | Rock | Dhanda is a tidy little player, and he has useful qualities that can be developed if he wants to put the work in, which is a big question mark for me at this point in his career. He’s got good close control and touch, albeit a bit inconsistent as he seems to lose focus sometimes when receiving the ball. He has good technique, but lacks power on his shots and passes that will limit his ability to influence games unless he adds bulk to his lower body. He could also stand to add a bit of upper body strength and work on his cardio, as he gets knocked off the ball easily and has very low stamina. These to me are signs of a lack of application, as he could work on these rather easily and it would have a big impact on his overall game and output. More than anything, he needs to understand in the modern game even the most creative and gifted players have to put in work off the ball and out of possession, unless your last name is Messi or Ronaldo. He could learn a thing or two from a player like Griezmann, another slightly-built flair player who honed his skills and runs, and works his cojones off every match. The time is now, he will never have a better chance to make it than under a manager like Martin, whose system is built around putting players like him in dangerous positions in the final third. He needs to put in more work, though, Martin will not carry any passengers. | | | |

That’s a very fair and very constructive analysis of Dhanda’s undoubted talent and regrettable lack of application, which I have admitted in earlier postings. I agree that Martin’s arrival offers an opportunity for him to develop his game and work on his weaknesses. He’s still young but he needs to get a move on if he is to realise his potential. Anyway, well said, good post.

Agreed. Strangely over-rated by pundits and some fans. But each of our 3 Managers can see those limitations and haven't been able to trust him when it matters.
| Dhanda on 12:16 - Aug 24 with 1214 views | ReslovenSwan1 | He is in his final season like a few others Roberts Grimes Bidwell etc. Have they all been offered new deals? Dhanda's situation could be re- assessed in December presumably. He has 15 week to make a case for a new deal. Otherwise he will ply his trade in Swansea until next summer and leave. He could kick on under Martin's direction. its not out of the question. | |

| Dhanda on 23:56 - Aug 24 with 1083 views | WalterBoyd | If Swans can get any money for him, sell. He did NOTHING in tonight's match, and hard to think of many times in his career with us where he has improved / added to the team. Given a chance to try and impress a new manager, yet no effort. Managers can usually forgive players who try and it doesn't come off / makes a mistake. Dhanda just doesn't have the heart / passion / hwyl - - - whatever you want to call it. He is a passenger, time to get off the bus. I think Russell would have spotted that. He adds nothing unfortunately. We have other players in the squad far more deserving of time on the pitch. | | | |
