Swansea City players given three days off after Preston debacle 29th Aug 2021 12:00
Russell Martin has given the entire Swansea City squad three days off after their dismal performance against Preston at Deepdale on Saturday. It coincides nicely with the closure of Fairwood for Covid cleaning, plus it also gives him and the swans hierarchy time to assess the chaotic transfer window ahead. 0

Nicknames should be capitalised. Russel Martin is Swans boss. The swans don't have a boss, big birds will do what they like.

Martin has inherited a club in a stat of flux minus Cooper's big stars and with two or three big players injured. Leaders like Roberts and Cabango. At the same time he is introducing a new playing style and a slew of new players. Woodman was clearly instructed to stay on his line. This simplifies the philosophy. Benda has led to 2 goals by venturing too far of his line. Woodman was called out for a "lack of bravery" but was operating to instruction in my opinion. Many of Martins players are "under cooked" it seems.

Several headwinds to deal with.

Players eased in sparingly like Cullen and Benda last season are getting extensive runs to prove themselves. There is only one elite loan player on the books. Over the last two seasons there were up to 4 elite loan youngsters.

Up to 12 young players need game time desperately. In my opinion up to 5 or 6 should go on loan not 2 or 3. Why keep Ollie Cooper on the books? He is in no mans land At the very least he should be at National league level. Torquay Yeovil etc.

Wise sage since Toshack era

Woodman was called out for a "lack of bravery" but was operating to instruction ... the same instructions he's having in Newcastle!
Agree with the
Hasn't Martin said no interest ha been made for any of our players but he expects that to change in the final days of the transfer window.
Yesterday was disappointing but some of our Cooperites seem to forget we also lost games under SC badly lost, lost without have a shot on target, got overwhelmed and made little attempt to play football.
2 steps forward 1 step back and sometimes 0 steps forward 2 back but we will get nowhere if we change approach every time there is a poor result of disappointing performance.

Poll: Should the summer transfer window close before the season starts?

Do you think Steve Bruce instructed Freddie Woodman to stand on his line whilst a perfectly catchable cross sailed past his head two yards in front of him yesterday afternoon, seconds before Southampton scored?
