Doesn't look like Robbie Brady will be the one...

""I love Robbie as a guy. He's brilliant. Fantastic player. Been in the Premier League for the last however long," he said.

"But I haven't spoken to him. I haven't spoken to him for a while, being honest.

"So there's nothing in that at the moment. He's a good player. Really good player, but I just think we've got a lot of players at the moment, we just need to work out who's going to fit in and who's going to really be with us over a long period of time.

"If it was different timing, then I'd possibly be telling you that I'd be really interested in it, but at this moment in time, there's nothing there.""

Gone from saying we need players in certain positions, Brady is a utility player to saying he has a lot of players, careful RM 😂 BTW his agent has spoken to Swansea twice, could be he has priced himself out.

Great article and great information about the situation. Brady is an excellent player and he would fill a lot of needs for us right now. We would instantly have a much stronger squad with him in it and competition for the XI would start getting really sharp, which is necessary to keep everyone on their toes and performing to their ability. Has had some poor luck with injuries but anyone looking at us as a destination is going to have some downsides.

His quality and experience would standout with us, and as Thomas Reid said, “a chain is only as strong as its weakest link as. For me, that would be Bidwell and left wing-back, and if Brady could come in and give that position some PL class it would make us a different proposition going forward. The late signings gave us real strength in numbers and brought quality to the other positions of need, and Walsh’s eventual return would instantly give our midfield the dynamism, incisiveness and creative spark it’s lacking most at the moment. Brady would be the final piece to the puzzle, and we would see Martin’s system really begin to take shape.

Brady’s versatility would allow Martin a lot of flexibility with his lineups from week to week and match to match, depending on who is available and the strengths of the opposition. He can play on the left or the right of a front three, No 10, left wing-back, even right wing-back or central midfield if we were really in a pinch. So he could potentially replace Bidwell, Paterson or Cullen depending on form, and would give us that option of playing Piröe and Obafemi upfront, knowing we’ve got a hard-working creator right behind them.

He has excellent touch and close control, and rarely gets dispossessed. He still has good pace, acceleration and work-rate despite his age and injuries. He’s got really good link play and positional awareness in the final third, and is an accurate passer with that killer ball in his locker that we are currently lacking the most right now in Walsh’s absence. He’s also good off the ball, strong in the tackle, quick to react, diligent tracking back even when played further forward and deceptively good in the air. It’s a resounding yes from me. There’s only one truly, but it’s about time we had another quality Robbie at the club.
