| Litter bins 10:38 - Oct 6 with 1943 views | CountyJim | As the title says they are litter bins yet thickos are throwing domestic waste into them and this morning I've noticed what looks like a small sheet of asbestos been left in one it really is shocking Not sure if it's the same in your area but it's now getting out of hand now. I suspect people will blame there bins are full but sorry that's a load of bolloxs these days if you recycle as you should our domestic bin you could easily get another week possibly two weeks more out of the bin | | | | |

I reckon we should do it like the Spanish. I see black bags being dumped next to bins around here. Problem is, if your wheelie is full and you have more, what do you do? We started stripping the wall paper, we had a full bin this week plus enough bags left over for 2 more wheelies. it's either a trip to the dump or about 2 months to get rid on normal collection day. We have loads more wallpaper to strip off yettoo.

No,it is simply down to upbringing. From an early age we were hammered literally if we left things hanging around and that was just in the house .

Well yes, I could drive down to the recycling centre but you see I'm a bit of an ass about this. The whole point of recycling is to do good for the environment so why make me use more petrol? Most of the year my bin isn't full then a few times a year I have extra rubbish and they won't take it. There are people in this area who have 2 wheelie bins and put both out. The bin men don't count the bins, they just empty them. Maybe I should just do like the neighbours and cheat?

Well, we have bags in Swansea, and recycling properly lucky if I put out a black bag once a month. And I always travel to the recycling centre to dispose of out garden waste. Certainly not aimed at you, but people are to happy to put 3 black bags out with mixed rubbish and items that can be recycled.

Don't you guys get a bin for garden waste ours is every fortnight and isn't putting plastic bags out bad for the environment I can remember before wheely bins cats Foxes breaking open the bags as well
| Litter bins on 15:54 - Oct 7 with 1216 views | britferry | my pet hate with the Swansea bin-men, is you put your re-usable pink sacks and green food bins out, neatly placed by your front wall, they turn up, empty them, and leave them in a pile in the middle of the pavement. And not just outside mine, all down the street. God help anyone with a wheelchair or pram trying to navigate their way down. | |

We have a wheelie bin for black bags and reusable bags for plastics and metal and one for cardboard, we have small black boxes for glass and paper, a food bin and a small bag for batteries. We have 2 green bags for garden waste. That's 9 in all. We put all of them out one week and only recycling the next. The bin men here just throw all the bags back onto the kerb willy nilly too. PS, Rayns, according to what I just read, there may be a fee for taking a bulk off old wallpapaer to the tip. To heck with that. Our council tax here is higher than Mumbles for the same band house. Black bags it is!

| Litter bins on 00:20 - Oct 9 with 1016 views | controversial_jack | NPT is far in advance of Swansea council for recycling. They have special sacks and bins for almost everything, there is no black bags used to my knowledge. There is no excuse for not sorting the equipment, but if you need to get rid of bulky household items, it's either pay a good fee for the council to remove them or hire an expensive skip. There is the option of taking it to the recycling centre, as long as you have suitable transport and book your 10 minute slot in advance. The council needs to stop charging for removal of bulky and household items and then maybe this problem will partially go away. | | | |

Once again your foot is in your mouth, Swansea Council are top draw on recycling, Pink sack for plastic, green for paper separate green for bottles and cans. All you need black bags for are for unrecyclables crisp packets etc. Im lucky if I put out a black bag once a month. Check you recycling tables mun

As far as the 10 minute slot goes, maybe that only applies to Llansamlet, I had some rubbish a few months ago, old tv, and other junk and Clyne was the best option no booking there.

Yes i remember, but to be more specific how much do NPTC or Swansea Councils recycle of what we put out in percentage terms, excluding what falls off the refuse lorry and gets stuck in our hedgrows obviously.

Swansea council has flimsly plastic bags, NPT has robust hessian style sacks for different items and individual solid bins for glass, cans etc. They also have wheelie bins for household items. no black bags here NPT is not perfect, but it's miles ahead of Swansea for ease of recycling . The site at Briton ferry is also larger and better organised too.The only thing I dislike is having to book a slot instead of just being able to turn up.

The wheelie bins are where we put our black bags mun! or do you just tip all your non recyclables straight in? That makes more sense actually, you'd get a lot more stuff in! Not sure the council workers would like it though.
