| Dan James on 18:29 - Nov 21 with 833 views | DwightYorkeSuperstar | I do not think he is great. He looked appalling at Manchester United. The fact that most teams set up very deep against Manchester United gave his ineffective performances a lot of slack, as there was rarely space in behind the opponent's defence to run in to. However, at Leeds it's clear he's not able to simply "kick and run" to get past Premier League players as easily as he used to do in The Championship and occasionally still does for Wales against woeful fullbacks from lowly ranked national teams. He's a one trick pony; mastering a trick that has a ceiling in the second tier. [Post edited 21 Nov 2021 18:30]

Might have something to do with the inept coaching staff at Utd that sucked all the confidence out of him. They've had that effect on a few players over the last few years. Van de Beek was excellent at Ajax...

Yes strange that , when he first arrived there he was flying but slowly his performances and game time dropped off the cliff., can't think why " He scored his first goal for the club on his competitive debut, coming on as a substitute to score United's final goal in a 4—0 win over Chelsea. He also scored in United's 2—1 loss against Crystal Palace. In only his fourth game for United he scored his third goal for the club in a 1—1 draw with Southampton, which was later voted goal of the month by United fans. James was also voted United player of the month for August In March 2020, Daniel James ended a seven-month goal drought by scoring in a 5—0 win over LASK, the final game before the suspension of football caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. Despite the goal drought, James ranked number one in the Manchester United assist chart at the time of suspension."

He's lost some of what made him good for us. Patience is gone, looks like he feels he has to make something happen every time he gets the ball now, which is a problem when he's not got a single trick in his locker. For us he would just knock it back if there was nothing on, we'd recycle to the other side and go again no problem. Do that at Man Utd and the fans start grumbling.

"He used to absolutely destroy defenders by just going at them" He would destroy defenders by kicking the ball 20 yards behind them and then beating them in a sprint to the ball. That in itself is not special. Paul Anderson was fantastic at doing exactly that for us in League 1.

| Dan James on 20:05 - Nov 21 with 727 views | Catullus | He was when he left us, he couldn't cross consistently and his final ball/decision making was suspect. He had potential though, still does, he can improve a lot more. | |

I agree with all that - he was a little gem but needed polishing. It’s strange how some on here are always happy to take the negative stance on any issue regarding our players - current or former. Dan has one very important invaluable asset - he’s lightning fast. I wish we had an injection of this sort of pace in the current team. But as well as the pace, he also has a decent shot on him - he can strike the ball hard and keep it below the crossbar - not to be sniffed at! I watched him for Leeds today and was pleased to see how he performed - a solid, reliable contribution including a superb finish for the game’s first goal. He seems to be enjoying his football and looks like he is appreciated there. Good to see. | | | | Login to get fewer ads

| Swansea Indepenent Poster Of The Year 2021. Dr P / Mart66 / Roathie / Parlay / E20/ Duffle was 2nd, but he is deluded and thinks in his little twisted brain that he won. Poor sod. We let him win this year, as he has cried for a whole year. His 14 usernames, bless his cotton socks.

A lot of players get drawn in by the dream, a truly big club on massive wages and many f them fail You're right of course, he should have gone to a mid table premier club where expectations are more realistic for him. He made a lot of money though!

| Dan James on 10:41 - Nov 22 with 521 views | Badlands | I see the same traits in his game now as when he was 18. He isn'r a player who beats a defender, he often makes poor decisions for his final ball, he often doesn't beat a keeper one-on-one, he is ineffective against a team that defend deep. His strengths are speed, ability to get up when knocked down, never shirks a challenge and .. speed. | |

Played a lot of football as well, considering. 50 league games in just over two seasons isn't a bad spell compared to most young Welsh footballers trying their hand at a top division side. Ampadu's played less than that in his whole career, and he made his professional debut 5 years ago.
