Fulton has made mistakes sometime trying too hard for the team, he for example he use to give opposition players too much space and ended up diving in and giving away needless free kicks(and getting sent off in the play off final), for the most part last year he was a lot tighter on players and didn't give away as many.

I’ve watched Grimes for 3 seasons now and he can’t take a corner, can’t take a free kick, is more one footed than long John silver and doesn’t score goals. There are many footballers who pass five yards for a living - it doesn’t make them good or influential players. Grimes wasn’t wanted by Fulham and only signed a new contract with us because nobody wants him. Not even Cooper who made him captain ! He’d rather take Fulton and I can see why (even if you can’t). | |

- Defensive contributions (statistically best in the league at tackling one year)
- Immense fitness (rarely runs out of stamina despite being available every single game in one of the hardest roles to play from an energy perspective)
- Passing ability (Fantastic pass accuracy whether it’s the simple five yard passes or switching play across the field to a wingback)
- Leadership qualities (Club captain for years, which Martin didn’t change when he came in)
Your point on Fulham not wanting him is factually incorrect as Stuart James reported at the time that we turned Fulham’s several bids down due to the fact they were far too low rather than the bids not existing at all.

You forgot to mention lack of pace to do a defensive roll properly when playing a high line, which is why Downes does it now.
