Not for me Dr. It's simply who has the best car. Hamilton is nowhere this season because his car has fallen behind technology. Verstappen will win with 4 races to spare. To have a race in Saudi is appalling and show it's simply a race for the cash-quite grotesque.
On 16th October Moto GP is taking place on Philip Island,a gorgeous place with a real racers track. Get down there and see real racers in a stunning setting. I envy you.
I was close to popping over to the Isle of Man this year but domestic matters mean this isnt' really on but I'll return there God willing .

I tend to agree with you. It’s an opinion I’ve always had so have decided to take a look and see for myself.
I noticed Russell and Hamilton finished together as did Sainz and LeClerc. Not a coincidence is it.

Nah. I used to be a big World Superbike fan Donnington in the Foggy era was unforgettable. I was there when Biagi and Rossi had a ruck whilst they were making their way in the sport. Rossi my all time favourite motor sportsman. He surpasses all,Fangio,Ago,Schwanz,Doohan,Moss,Schooey,Duke, Why ? Because he won on different machines and at different classes. He had real character and transcended the sport and became the sport for a time.
The only one that could rival his all round racer talent was Surtees.
F1 hasn’t been a motor racing sport for about 30 years. It’s more a procession of adverts now. Any attempt to overtake at any point is usually viewed as dangerous and met with a penalty.
Used to love it but now I could barely last 10 minutes watching it before slipping into a coma.

Biker racing far better. We have a multi world champion in Jonathan Rae who's utterly under the radar it's laughable. Assen TT is imply a wonderful place to go and watch racing .Social is ok too. Spa also brilliant for the 24 bike race but seriously shattering if you ride there.I did and nearly fell off coming back home. It's also often wet but a glorious famous circuit.
I'd love to go to one but the pricing is bananas! I'd really like to go to Spa or Monza. Proper old school tracks and the Monza atmosphere must be incredible. One day. which race you going? I presume the new Miami track?

Ive been to Spa twice.Eau Rouge really is awesome but it's often damp there.
It's a beautiful part of the world especially if you go on two wheels.
Even if you are not into Bike Racing ,it's worth a trip.
Le Mans is also memorable but tiring and many have accidents leaving there due to fatigue
It's not for me either, I prefer TOCA. I used to watch F! and Motorbike racing when I was young, James Hunt, Barry Sheene, back when it was still a bit wild. Now it's mostly about the car.

Sheene never been replaced a British Motor Cycling icon . It was his looks, attitude and lifestyle and yeah I loved him.His Daytona crash is something all sport people should watch when they complain about injuries/pain. Died way too young and still missed.
Surtees,Fogarty,Rae,Duke ,Hailwood,Read and Joey Dunlop all greater riders IMO but Sheene had more charisma. It's what we love about sportsmen and women
Been once and it bored and it the pance off me, they just go around and around and normally who ever has the best car wins, also bring headphones to drown out the continuous annoying fcuking noise, many also get exited when the cars pull in to get the tyres changed oh what a spectacle it is watching mechanics put on tyres.

Different car designs this year have helped overtaking but I fear the same old same old.
To the OP - F1 definitely divides opinion but plenty of people think it's great, there'll be 140 thousand at Silverstone on raceday. Can't comment on the Australian GP atmosphere or as an all round event obviously but stick around for the V8 saloons not just the F1. If you don't like it then fair enough but I've always loved it myself.

You were surprised that they go round & round and make a lot of noise?
Doc - If you're taking your fiance, binge-watch Netflix's F1 - Drive to Survive series.
A proper coup by Netflix with a massive spike in ratings. Esp amongst the younger generation.
Horner's ratings have plummeted as a result. Every cloud..... A proper schmuck.
Yer man Ricciardo will be an intriguing watch in Melbourne..
Send us the pics, as per ........

AC, yeah we have started the latest series and are a couple of episodes in, it’s a great watch. Last season with the crash was shocking. Still don’t know how he walked away.
Sure I can pop a few pics on.

Thanks for the tip.
What’s the story with the V8’s? Never heard of them before.

The series is called V8 Supercars & it's the top level touring car series in Australia, their equivalent of British Touring cars really. Ford Mustangs & Holden Commodores.

I got to try and go to more racing, used to love it kid. Autograss, rally cross, BTCC, speedway all great fun. Goodwood is on my list as well though not a race definitely a petrol heads comic con.
Heard F1 is going to Vegas next year, must be a massive strain on the teams the amount of races. surely its time to have GP's in alternate years.

Ah yeah sorry I know them, Van Gisbergen etc, it sounded like they followed the F1 race at the venue? Maybe I misread?

Being of an older generation I had the pleasure of seeing Bob McIntyre race in the late 50s early 60s, before he was tragically killed in a race in 62. Was a smooth rider on 250,350 and 500cc bikes. If you have a spare ½ hour watch this real bikes!!

I was just gonna post they're going back to Las Vegas, not in a car park this time but actually racing down the strip !!!
Still no races in Africa though... £1BILLION over 10 years for the Vegas race, perhaps thats why

thanks and yeah I knew of Bob Mac. It was a hard choice but the names came out of the top of my head.
Don't get me started on Speedway as I 'll get all sentimental.
This is from out Capital and not an easy track really
At that level,by far the most exciting form of motor sport.
These are real specialists in a very specific discipline
I suspect you've been drawn in by the "Drive to Survive" marketing.
Whilst obviously incredibly successful (especially in the USA, as intended), it really doesn't convey an accurate picture of the sport. Much of what you see is 'fake'. They invent drama that never happened, sometimes even editing in quotes from different timelines from different contexts to push a made up storyline they want to push.
