The verdict is in on Russell Martin & Stoke City 28th Aug 2022 17:57
Last Chance Saloon for Martin ? Swansea City ride into town on Wednesday night against Stoke City, who are currently seventeenth in the table and fresh from their away victory over Blackburn, on the back of two of their, arguably, most inept performances in recent times. 0

The owners burying their heads in the sand isn’t going to improve results. A decision has to be made very soon before the we get too far behind - we’ve got a good team here which some managers would definitely get a tune out of.

Right, we don't know if the senior players have said anything but the reality is that players have been dropped, discarded, in Bennetts case not even a squad number though nobody seems to want him (maybe because of his wages here) so it seems to me, anybody who does speak out is just pushed aside, cast asunder maybe until or unless they step into line. Maybe thats what Fulton did and why he has been getting picked more recently. So the players may know speaking out means being sidelined so none of them are brave enough though I would hope that's not true and something has been said, I would especially hope that Allen is strong enough to speak up. I don't have a great opinion of Grimes, I don't rate him as a Captain and I don't think he's strong enough to front up to the manager.

If Stoke roll us ver easily, or even if it's hard but they put another 3 goals on us, surely the owners have to take notice and do something. There is still plenty of time for a halfway decent manager to turn this around. We are not many points off the top end yet. Not that I'm saying we are good enough to take a crack at the top end but we are good enough, in my personal opinion, to make a comfortable mid table finish.

What Martin is doing is practically criminal, we have 2 good strikers but he plays one out of position and that is far from his only positional malpractice. He wouldn't be doing a better job if he was deliberately trying to destroy this team. We are hopeless defensively and constantly give away soft goals yet at the same time we are hopeless offensively, too slow or too inept to make the forward passes and although at all the home games we practice shooting before kick off (it's right in front of me in the family stand) we seem to be waiting for the "perfect chance" and don't shoot unless its a clear chance, how often do those "perfect chances" come along? We are too slow, too predictable and oppo managers are even taking the piss out of us.

If all of that on top of the results over the last 12 months isn't enough to sack Russell Martin then I'll wait until the Stoke game and if we lose (with the usual ineptitude) and he is still our manager I am telling the club we will not be there, unless it is for a massive fan protest to send a message they cannot ignore.

That is where I am at, if Martin is still our manager and the fans decide to protest, we'll go. I think we need t do it too, we need to all go and take our seats but when Russell Martin comes out of the tunnel we should all get up and leave. And it should be very public, announced in advance so there is no doubt about what has happened.

Just my opinion, but WTF do I know anyway?

Subbing Allen of all people for Cullen should have resulted in Martin getting chinned by Joe.

If we do it next Saturday we can just have a beer or two outside while the first half takes place, go back to our seats just before the second half and repeat.

it gets madder! I desperately want us to succeed and t led to me grasping at straws but though I used to defend martin and said give him time, yourself, Dr P and other posters were right and he's a disaster but is being allowed to continue.

He's ruining our club and is causing damage that will be so bad, if he's not replaced soon it may be too late. If he is still here at Christmas we are in big trouble.

Just my opinion, but WTF do I know anyway?

Morning Cat.
I’d rather be proven wrong and the club proper . I’m very upset right now ,I’ve gone past anger .
I might be a dope to some but if one has spent as much time as me looking at people closely and listening to them, yiu get to know a wrong un. Not always granted.

It really was that game at Preston when my chum [ I do have them] thought wtf is going on having watched the game then hearing Martin s response . It was right there looking at us.
Our decent proper although squabbling fans deserve better than this chap.I’m holding back because of the persistent warnings on this site and don’t want another ludicrous ban mainly because I can DM posters directly .

The very fact we allowed Fisher into this club was enough for anyone to see what we have now .

Kyle Joseph is fast and physical as is Garrick. Both have been dumped upon.

As I say and repeat Joe Allen being replaced by Liam Cullen sickens. I’m actually disappointed Joe didn’t chin him.

And we have to endure this …where’s the money gone .ALL of it.

The Cullen-Allen sub was probably down to protecting The latter fitness wise. And although I rate Cullen somewhere on the level of Sorinola, at least he put a forward on instead of a midfielder.

Certainly in terms of respective ability, it was a strange decision but positionally may have made sense.

I’m trying to squeeze the last drop of objectivity from my system regarding Martin but it’s proving very difficult.
