To be fair, it’s not the under elevens where everyone gets a game. His, as well as others, chance comes day in day out on the training pitch. If he’s not impressing there, I wouldn’t expect any manager to start him in the Championship and see how he goes. Not, that I know how good he is in training, but it’s fair to assume that if he was tearing it up, we’d see a bit more of him. Certainly a strange signing for a club without much budget.

When he was given a few minutes he looked like he had some Latiquality. You do have to impress in training but you also get players like Bony who would never have played if his place was down to impressing in training. Quite a few others too. Lati, Singorola, Fixher and Grimes must be immense in training!

Yeah he did. On the brief time he’s had, I’d be playing him too. Contrary to any gossip though, players don’t get randomly frozen out for no reason. Re. Bony, I’m not talking about winning bleep tests. He had a fairly unique skill set. I’m sure he could have easily demonstrated everything he did on the pitch in training sessions without breaking too much of a sweat.
| Ogbetta on 15:02 - Sep 2 with 1449 views | Dr_Winston | Players can and do get randomly frozen out, the reason being the manager doesn't want to use them. He could be the best training ground performer of the lot, but if RM doesn't want to use him he won't get a look in. | |

I’m not buying that for a second. There’s always a reason players don’t play. It could be how he trains, it could be attitude, it could be anything really. The one thing it’s not, is the manager randomly deciding he doesn’t feel like playing that player, in spite of attitude, how he does in training and his attributes on the pitch. Especially when we’re short in his position. The players that have been frozen out, I can see the reason for, even if I don’t agree. Garrick and Whittaker I wouldn’t have in the squad. Bennett, different style of centre back and potentially another season if he plays again. Joseph I’d have kept around, but can understand the decision not to with two strikers and a glut of attacking midfielders. Benda I’d play, but Martin seems obsessed with a keeper who is comfortable with the ball at his feet.

Dan James was always rubbish in training. Fulton always one of the best. Bale wouldn't even train half the time he was at his peak at Spurs. Many managers use training as an audition for the weekend, rather than preparation, to the detriment of the team. Ogbeta doesn't look the finished article but he did as much in League One as the likes of Darling, Sorinola and Fisher. Didn't do it for the right man, maybe.
| Ogbetta on 16:20 - Sep 2 with 1356 views | ReslovenSwan1 | Ogbeta is a rare breed of player who is apparently frozen out but still actually playing for the u21. Their results have picked up of late and Ogbeta has been lively and enthusiastic from what i have seen. It could be Martin wants him to work on a few technical things in the u21 under Mr Grey's supervision. Sort out those issues and he will be up for consideration. I believe martin should use what he has not rely on loans (who do not end up playing). Garrick has all the tools to be a wing back and played there in a FA cup tie v Stevenage. JasperT says he is raw and looked uncomfortable. I say use the u21 for 10 games under close supervision and adapt and work on defects. Garrick Whittaker have done loan time. Now their loans seem about cutting wages not development. This is not the Swansea way. It should always be about development. Benda should be working on his footwork and challenging Fisher for his position not looking to get away. Loans are the pot noodle of the football world. Comfort food for those that cannot be @rsed to cook. [Post edited 2 Sep 2022 16:24]

I’ve only seen Garrick in the rare first team opportunities he’s had, so probably unfair to judge, but from what I’ve seen, he’s all pace no composure. He plays with his head down, is often out of position and isn’t that comfortable with the ball at his feet. You described him as versatile on a different thread. Personally, I wouldn’t consider him at wing back or striker, which I assume are the positions you meant?

You re posting great stuff 247 ,honest . Garrick has ,in the grand scheme of things ,little time or chances to improve. His composure could improve with more games under his belt We re having good exchanges today and that can only be good

Good on him. Luton have roughed up Swansea too often for my liking. Assaulted Manning cowardly from behind, and only booked, Racially abused Rhys Williams with a running theme and stewards looking the other way and issue not not attended to, and bullied Swansea at home for an easy away win with the Manager calling Swansea effing useless and promoting his Cardiff affiliations. Passing teams still have to have a physical edge n the championship. I looked at Mikael Antionio's CV. Modest at Sheff Wed and Forest then bang at 26. Garrick has the athletic qualities is very fast, can beat his man has good control has composure can head the ball and finish. [Post edited 2 Sep 2022 17:54]
