Thing is, most Americans would have almost exclusively seen pictures of Queenie when she's "on duty". Lots of bling, crowns, smart outfits etc.
Mrs Windsor wandering around the Balmoral area wearing a Barbour jacket and a headscarf probably wouldn't stand out in their heads or be anything like as recognisable.
