Ah my favourite subject, time for a rant.

He queued for 13 hours to pay respects to the queen, he could've easily used his influence and got a queue jump, an MP even offered to take him out of the queue to go straight in but the "hero" decided to wait his turn.

Whats your views?

Mine, the cynic I am... he most probably asked his PR team to get him in, then somebody turned around and said "just think how good it would look if you queued, they could finally give you a knighthood." they knew full well social media and the press would lap it up.

Just look at Capt. Tom, he was there in a flash to get his nose in on what he was doing.

Whereas Phillip Schofields PR team said the same thing and told them that he was a man on principle and would not queue for the good PR.

Or maybe Beckham is a sound bloke

Don’t think it was a case of him thinking how good it would be if he queued rather how bad it would look if he didn’t.

Yeah, we'll all be saying he's a "sound bloke" when he's front and centre at the World Cup with the Arab millions in his back pocket

The two are unrelated.

We could also throw the same accusations at every football team who participate and every fan who goes, watches any of the matches or qualifying games or buys any of the memorabilia.

Brand Beckham is the most important part of their lives. His wife has milked him to support her failed businesses so he has to keep the money rolling in.

I'm sure he's a nice bloke, I've heard stories to that effect but still, he's a money making machine and I think his moves are planned.

Just my opinion, but WTF do I know anyway?

Isn’t that completely unfair ? He has no chance, if he acts like a entitled brat, it’s typical, if he’s acts decently, it’s a set up.

Could it not be that he’s a genuinely decent chap ?

For what it’s worth I thought he spoke very well and the way he came across did him a lot of credit, the way he talked about his late Nan especially struck a chord with me.

I work with a lot of cynics but in this instance I’m not one of them.

An idea isn't responsible for those who believe in it.

From what I've heard there is no "vip" queue or fast entry for them. Phil Schofield and Holly Willoughby were making a piece for broadcast so were allowed in as journalists. Despite what the Mail proclaims. Its join the queue or nothing

I'm not a fan of Beckham but fair play to him whatever his motive is he joined the queue plenty of other celebs haven't and neither would I.

Let's be fair he's yesterday's news really isn't he? Being back in the papers for queuing will be forgotten in a few weeks.

yes he did speak well, his wife's PR team had him well rehearsed, they were the ones planted 20 spaces before him and 20 spaces after him in the queue btw, just to make sure, everybody on social media & the press knew he was there

Aye Planet Earth and its 510.1 million km² land mass and 525600 minutes in a year and who with (*cough, cough, cough*) perfect timing just happened to venture out into the midst of an entire world press ensemble covering the Diana death inquest? Yep! Victoria Beckham! And dressed in the right colour for the occasion also?

And who turned up on a Hello Magazine ‘product-placement’ (*cough, cough, cough*) charity mission to meet impoverished Kentucky kids gifting (*cough, cough, cough*) ADIDAS products? Multi-million pound Brand-Beckham ADIDAS connection deals, geddit? Yep! Victoria Beckham!
https://www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz/article-1227770/Victoria-Beckham-takes-son

And who threw his toys out of the pram when he did not receive a knighthood? Yep! David Beckham! So I guess many a person is right to question the intention(s) and validity of celebrities. Hardly a 'genuine' world to belong to that celbrity one?

I raise your so called "insider" and raise you with... UNICEF

In the summer of 2015 a surprising email arrived in the brick-fronted offices of the children’s charity Unicef in Clerkenwell, London.

It was from a director of David Beckham’s company and it was billing the charity £6,685 for a business class flight.

The fact that the global icon with a £280 million fortune would charge the charity for his travel on Unicef business was not in itself unexpected, as that was written into his contract as a goodwill ambassador.

What shocked the charity was that Beckham was not even taking the flight. The trip was to Cambodia to highlight the work done by Unicef with child victims of abuse and the ex-footballer was mixing his charity role with business while out in the Far East.

It was Unicef’s understanding that, as a result, Beckham was being flown to Cambodia on a private plane which was supporting his Far Eastern tour.

“We are understand (sic) DB was on a private jet so the Fund wouldn’t need to pay for his travel,” Chloe Edwards, Unicef’s ambassador relations manager, wrote back.

But a second director from the Beckham’s company, DB Ventures Ltd, was unrelenting. “There is an allocation in the agreement for DB travel and that is 1 x business class return for any field trips,” the director wrote. “We will always do everything we can to allocate costs away from Unicef and minimise any expenditure but I need to be able to bill what’s agreed.”

These exchanges are contained in leaked documents seen by media from the network European Investigative Collaborations, which raise serious questions about how the charity was being used to maximise the profits of ‘Brand Beckham’, the highly successful business which made around £45m in 2015.

The world of celebrity with Svengali managers, agents, PA's and self publicity hungry celebs is not always as genuine and heartfelt to the levels some people are often fooled to think.

A lot of it is stage managed and thought out well in advance whereupon the press becomes a very helpful tool either by means fair or foul. I used to watch CH4's 'Hard News' and it was very educational showing how the general public is manipulated by both press and celebrities.

Some of it can be comedic in fact, for example the way Sex Pistols Glitterbest mangaement and PA Sophie Richmond used to write fake letters to newspapers in "outraged of Tunbridge Wells" type alias" mode to drum up publicity before a new single or LP release. The lengths celebrities go to with stagemanaged self publcity stunts is noticable to some.
