Missing children 14:45 - Dec 3 with 1338 viewsJoesus_Of_Narbereth

Cast your minds back if you will to May 2007. A child is reported missing in sleepy Praia de Luz in Portugal. The worlds media is mobilised the next morning. The disappearance gains wall to wall around the clock coverage. The prime minister of the time directly intervenes. Top detectives from Scotland Yard are dispatched to assist the Portuguese authorities with their inquiries. The home office pledges millions over a number of years. MI5 are rumoured to be on the case too.

Fifteen and a half years later the disappearance remains unsolved and unexplained.

And here we are as 2022 drives to a close. I stumble across an article in the bowels of the bbc website in the Kent subsection regarding a freedom of information requests that details how at least 39 migrant children have simply vanished from the care of the home office and are feared to have been trafficked into exploitation, whether it’s the sex or drugs trade, construction or one of these dodgy car washes that have popped up all over the place.

This should be an absolute national scandal. This is in addition to the 220 children who the guardian reported missing earlier in the year.

I realise Harry and Meg have got a Netflix series out moaning about how hard done by they are with their countless millions and teams of servants and obviously that is a vitally important news story. Also a black lady was made mildly irate by being asked where she was from so of course there is a plethora of important news stories out there that matter more than news about hundreds and hundreds of children vanishing from the care of the British government into the sex and slave trade.

What the hell has happened to proper serious journalism?

Well it’s all linked of course. It’s a real humanitarian crisis happening on our own soil yet it seems to me at least that there’s a real concerted effort to avoid reporting on it or to surpress the story. And when it is reported it’s often from the angle of “look how racist Britain is”.

Our last two prime ministers have been forced to resign under enormous press criticism, one for eating cheese in a garden and employing a drunken pervert who touched men up in bars and the other for daring to lower taxes against the markets wishes. All that seems to pale into insignificance when you consider the horrors of modern slavery yet everybody involved seems to be getting a free pass.

I saw this reported on breakfast news this morning. When we say we want tougher border controls some people scream racism, xenophobia, the ittle Englander remarks come out but all most of us want is a safe country. One that turns back criminals and terrorists, one that keeps us, our children and the legal migrants and genuine refugees safe.

What we have right now is a free for all.

Serious reporting has been beaten into a stupor by sensationalism and reality reporting. Who won IACGMOOH or Strictly get more headlines than the victims of crime.

Just my opinion, but WTF do I know anyway?

France have offered many times to set up a border there for vetting people and thereby creating safe routes for people. Gvnt has repeatedly refused.

Whoever we vote for, our governments are always useless.

That said, our borders can never be truly secure, even in W2 with mines and barbed wire everywhere the enemy still got in, Illegals and criminals will still find a way.

Just my opinion, but WTF do I know anyway?

This is 21st Century UK. A vile pit of greed and corruption where all that matters is profit and sod everyone who is poor or ill, old and/or disabled. If you're not rich, not a politician then screw you!
