Quite simply he’s chasing the coin when he doesn’t need to.

Precisely. High Rollers don't go to casinos because they need to win the money. It's about the thrill of competing with other gamblers, beating the house, beating the bookies.

I don't think there are restrictions on what footballers can gamble on, with the exception of football, and especially games their are actively involved in. There are so many ways to gamble on games, first corner, throw in etc. If he has been gambling on football matches, he's either silly or greedy, or probably both.

| Ivan Toney on 14:19 - Dec 21 with 1217 views | ReslovenSwan1 | British football has a proud record of playing to the whistle and giving 100% even for mid table teams with nothing to play for. Many times teams predicted to roll over for other teams playing for something have dumbfounded conspiracy thoughts and got a win. This is the strength of the English leagues. The like of Toney if proven Barton and Trippier could be the tip of the ice berg and the start of a very slippery slope. For this reason penalties should be brutal. ANY player betting on a match they are involved in should be banned for life. The whole integrity of the game is at stake. About 12 years ago I was shocked the casual attitude of football pundits and commentators to the Matt Le Tissier scandal highlighted below. The ginger bloke on Talksport was having a good laugh over it as MLT presented it as a victimless crime and a comic good old fashioned Ealing comedy type mess up. I did not buy his cheeky chappie excuse for hi media mates. There must be real ZERO tolerance or the scumbags will wriggle their way in to affect games to suit South east Asian gambling interests. It is a disgrace Le Tissier was kept on after 2009 but he was. https://www.theguardian.com/fo | |
