- BBC chairman Richard Sharp resigns after a report finds he breached the code on public appointments
- Sharp says the report has found he did not properly disclose his involvement in the facilitation of a £800,000 loan guarantee to then-PM Boris Johnson
- But he says the breach was “inadvertent and not material”, and he is resigning to “prioritise the interests of the BBC”
- The report has just been published and we are going through the details
- The government's choice for BBC chairman is ultimately decided by the prime minister - Sharp was appointed in February 2021
- A committee of MPs already said he'd made "significant errors of judgement" and had not given the "full facts" when applying for the job
- The inquiry by the Commissioner for Public Appointments has been led by a lawyer, Adam Heppinstall KC

Johnson is a liar and a fraud, so it's no surprise.
Sunak the same.
Chuck away the key.

Swansea Indepenent Poster Of The Year 2021. Dr P / Mart66 / Roathie / Parlay / E20/ Duffle was 2nd, but he is deluded and thinks in his little twisted brain that he won. Poor sod. We let him win this year, as he has cried for a whole year. His 14 usernames, bless his cotton socks.

Well I'll be damned, a tory grifter somehow ends up controlling state media and he had to lie to get their. I could never believe such a thing.

Indeed.

The BBC should be treasured. It's not perfect but look at the States for the alternative - people just watching the news they like.

Johnson nobbled the BBC because he could.
Straight out of the Trump playbook.
Trump nobbled the US Supreme Court.

Unfortunately it always is. The government of the day appoints the chairman.

It is going to be hard to find a chairman who has never voted for a political party.

Maybe start with someone who has not facilitated a loan of £800,000 for the PM of the day from a long lost Canadian cousin.
Apparently loans from family members need not be declared.
Maybe not even repaid ?
And certainly not taxed.

A happy coincidence, innit …. 🇬🇧🤡
