All's Gude that ends good 18:23 - Nov 9 with 2169 viewsReslovenSwan1

I am not clear what Mr Gude will be doing to be honest. I am not a management consultant. I am not at all against this appointment. The club needs brains.

In the WoL it said this.

" In his new role, Gude, who moved to Swansea back in August, will focus on ORGANiSATIONAL STRUCTURE and MANAGEMENT at the club and help to "shape and build a high-performance CULTURE". He will also support chairman and close friend Andy Coleman in delivering his VISION for the club"

"In a statement announcing his appointment, Swansea said Gude also has "extensive experience in COMMUNICATIONS and MESSAGING", spending the last decade "building cultures" at existing organisations and helping to get NEW BUSINESSES off the ground. The Swans won't be the first sports team he has dealt with, however, having also worked on the business side of the three-time Super Bowl champions Washington Commanders".

So what does it all mean? I would welcome comments to those with better grasp of management consultancy than me. Will he be involved in anything football related?.

So here is my thoughts. How can he be beneficial?.

a) Improve efficiency of support staff at Farwood and Landore. The is could mean reductions in the Staffing level when jobs are completed using new technology or faster delivery. Basically reducing the over heads and staff.

b) Energy usage. Finding ways to reduce energy usage. Many companies Wales are struggling big time with increased costs of fuel.

c) Use of sub contractors increased or reduced to cut costs.

d) Improve marketing and sponsorships. Could he use his links to Washington Commanders to sell their merch in Swansea and Swansea merch in Washington. Same with DC united.

e) Reading social media it is evident that many Welsh people and Swansea fans have a deep rooted distrust of all things US calling them all sorts from "Yankees" and accusing them of taking money out the club. "Profit" from businesses is seen as negative to the less well educated. It is part of South Wales socialist culture. It seems to be a common assumption that the US people have raided the safe box. "only £3.5m invested they have taken out much more than that" was a much liked comment.

f) Ticket prices / commercial packages / youth discounts. All covered one would think.

g) The culture needs to be all inclusive in the boardroom and at some point the relationship with the Trust became TOXIC such that legal action was initiated.. This must not happen again. Six years of waste and abuse and money destined to the club paid to legal people Yuk.

h) The Trust need its own vision and some way of making money. A full legal and financial review of their rules is required. Gude could offer the Trust guidance. At present it is committed to a slow decline with dilution falling membership dissatisfaction and inertia. I believe there are way to through the club make investments and draw income.

i) Swans TV. It has dumbed down. I very nice interview i with Bashir Humphries last week I thought. A few too many "how does it feel.... ?" questions but good nevertheless. Time to move on O'Connell and Wyndham. Get a full on young gun involved who has to have a full ledger of facts. "Top standard in everything we do" Levein promised. Swans TV is not that. I want more Cyril. I suppose this fits the messaging and communication section.

j) If he is actual football related then could he use his communication and messaging skills to develop twining with teams in the RoI. The Island seems to be turning out a lot of good young players these days. Other teams have had a much better footprint in RoI. Manning
Obafemi and Christie were all in the team 18 months back. RoI is promising due to easy immigration rules. Could Swansea or the LLC take a holding in one of these clubs?

k) Partnering with a EFL club to send out young player on loan. Newport County would be ideal for this, The ex Chairman owns it now and will insist on a Swansea style of play.

l) Partnering with DC United. This has started with Christian Fletcher and can be developed.
DC could be a pathway for south American players to come to Swansea. Immigration rules probably means they would first need to be internationals playing for DC before getting a visas for UK. Could Cude develop what Brighton has done.?

m) Recruitment. Work with Mr Watson to improve this and give a wider spread. Combine with DC It seem to me when recruitment guys leave it is back to square one. (this may not be true) .

n) Branding. The Swan is a very strong logo. I would rename the ladies team as "Abertawe" and get the Trust to sponsor the shirts. They need to show they are helping the team in some way . This is the way to increase membership and might be self funding. I sometime get miffed when I hear of a new signing and it is for the ladies team.

Something for a dull Thursday afternoon.

why don't you stand at the Trust elections and make a difference?

And the Newport idea. What makes you think Mr Jenkins wants to work with our owners after what happened in Jan-Feb 2019?

And the Gude appointment seems rather odd. If we were in Leicester's position I could understand why we may need a Chief Of Staff as the club prepares for a return to the Premier League.
This Swans squad is not good enough for promotion.
And if by any chance we did go up we could become the team with the lowest ever points in the Premier League - we are not ready for the Premier League on or off the pitch. We are years away.

Business is business. They know each other well and Mr Jenkins calls the shots at Newport from now on. Money will be tight at Newport. I did not mention promotion. Most newcomers consider SCSFC to have a Premier league set up off the pitch.

If as you say SCFC are miles off it then Gude has a lot of work to do. I was fishing for specifics. What is it that needs improving?

I somehow doubt Levein and co would be paying him a good wedge to play golf. Good input though.

The team, the whole team. Surely a proper fan can see that?

Oh, the food and drink, the prices, wifi inside the ground, consideration for fans who spend a good chunk of their income supporting OUR team.

The club has described Gude's work in generic terms. I have tried to identify specific area that needs attention. You have returned to generics.

The whole 'playing' team if that is what you are referring to is the responsibility of Watson and Duff. Gude's background is the NFL.

I wonder if Gude is creating some stability off the field on the coaching staff and the executive team. How many people have come and gone quite quickly over the last 5 years - Allen, Birch, Leon (twice), Donovan, Scott, Potter, Cooper, Pearlman, Winter and probably a few more.

Coleman is calling the shots. If Gude is over here to play golf Coleman should be sacked by Levien. No passengers at Swansea. I expect the club to issue redundancies fairly soon as he finds efficiencies.

Do you really think anyone who is successful is going to move their family over here for less than that, plus expenses. I wouldn't.

I would an have in the past. Mr Gude and Mr Coleman would take the idea they are milking the club and having a jolly as deeply disrespectful. I have given my thought about what he might do in the OP. Both are professional people with professional pride.

They have a plan. I do not know what it is and took trouble to outline some ideas which may be well off the mark. The miserable folk on here have nothing to add of course. The fans group sums up Swansea fan dynamism. No idea at all just whinging. This is why they are in freefall.

The main post recently is asking Colemen to use his money to subsidise Leeds fans to the tune of £30k to £50k when they come to Swansea to save Swansea fans £12k to £15k in Yorkshire.

You keep making things up, in your mind they make sense.

Who said they are milking the club, if they provide value for money that's fine. You mentioned redundancies, nobody else. I just said if you are paying out large amounts for these guys and are making locals redundant it won't sit well.

One poster said he was over here to play golf. You have picked a sum of £500k and said he would not come over here for less. Both points are in my view inaccurate. Gude appears to be a project manager and used their jargon.

I have ventured to translate this jargon into specifics and posted some ideas. Trimming the staff numbers is only one of them. Redundancies never sit well. The club does not break even s a mid table Championship club. There may be fat to be trimmed.

That reminded me of the Coleman incident, when he responded to a report that Josh Marsh was "leaving" the club.

New project consultant anywhere often means trimming outgoings. The more he is paid the more he needs to trim to justify his wages. The club does not break even without selling players. Cutting the roll call is the easiest and quickest way to cut costs. Pensions insurances etc. The club as a whole is currently under performing.

On forums practically no one backed Huw Jenkins when the Trust demanded his removal. He had 400 people working for him. I defended him and was not even paid by him . Where were those 400 on well above average wages in a glamorous field in a remote part of the country? Some owed him a lot. Loyalty was thin on the ground if social media was anything to go by.

The "Yanks" are now in the building. Happy days.
