Gylfi for Pato. Just think of the set pieces we’d no longer waste!

Otherwise I’d have loved to see Ben Davies covering LCB and LWB in this team, his performances for Wales are always top tier.

Russell Martin : ‘We probably will have to sell one or two every year’

Promotion at this stage would have been awful IMO as others have mentioned. Next season with a preseason behind us and a full year to master and perfect our gameplan and dominate the league would set us up for success in the premier league and eventually in Europe.

Swansea City in automatic promotion form !

Nottingham Forest spent 4m this year overall while already having a far better squad. We spent less than 2. We need to spend to be competitive, this is the simple rule of football.

If we spend like a mid table club we can temper our expectations to be of those of a mid table club.

…well, yes? Do you think Bournemouth and Fulham are getting promoted by their managers tactics alone?! Bizarre take

The same people who cry about the simple act of wearing a mask and following the rules set by leaders of our country under advisement of the best doctors in the world are also the ones who say this generation is too soft and pretend like they’d stand up for this country if we got into a real brutal war like Ukraine. Interesting, that.

Martin hasn’t ‘changed’ anything. His system, and perhaps most importantly, club culture takes a season to learn hence the term transition which has been stressed by many of us who have been patient and realistic over the past year. We are now reaping some of the rewards of our hard work across the season, going seven unbeaten. We will undoubtedly be a force to be reckoned with next season given squad depth that comes from financial backing and the fans getting behind an ambitious vision and project that has never been done before!

Viva Swansea. Viva Martinball.

“business is done early and no late departures.”

God how I wish that same mentality was shared with the owners over the past few summer windows. Seen more than my fair share of mental summer deadline days to age me 10+ years!

Keeping the same general squad around will be vital next season, while so many others in the league are forced to change and adapt we have the opportunity to keep this team and tactics together which is a golden combination. We will live or die by our summer window, really can’t speculate until we see the level of investment (which will clue us in on how respected and trusted Martin is by our owners!) I would expect, given a good window where we keep the squad together and get some fantastic backups in, a very strong playoff push.

Cyrus Christie - Looking A Bit Tired ?
at 09:52 17 Apr 2022

Anyone noticed Laird had the exact same problem towards the end of his time here? If there’s any position we need real depth in in the summer, it’s wingback. Due to the extremely demanding nature of the role (perhaps hardest on the pitch?) it seems obvious to me we need Christie as well as 2 capable backups.

If we have to play Latibeaudiere or Korey Smith on the wing at any point next season our scouting team have failed miserably unless our budget is a tenner.

Very well may have lost his passion at Stoke which is hardly his fault! If he came here he’d likely be roaring and ready to play, tis a gamble though.

The Melbourne Manchild. Yuck.

Does anyone else think Latibeaudiere should start over Manning again? He’s looked fantastic since Ryan’s suspension.

Wolf has been brilliant as a wingback, would be interested to see him in his ‘natural’ position. If he plays at an average level up there, then just turn him into a full time left wingback.

He’s a great influence behind the scenes and good enough to play a covering role in defensive midfield and for both wingbacks in a pinch. Better to have depth than not. Having people like him around will be vital for team spirit and for the younger uns

If Martin continues to start Wolf over Ogbeta then I would take that as a potentially positive sign of Hannes signing in the summer.

I am the worst among them! I have donated £20 to https://donation.dec.org.uk/ukraine-humanitarian-appeal, not that I need the applause of a paranoid man on the internet who fumes at my very existence.

The Melbourne Manchild.
