Sky report Goode is close to singing for Brentford.

Ha ha, that'll go down well.

So maybe we will get Dickie instead as Brentford and us both wanted him

I don't think Brentford and Middlesbrough have a scouting system, seems like they just use ours.

More expensive option and being touted to Premier League.

Goode to Brentford confirmed, rumoured to be a fee of £1m.

For me, it's a risk we can't afford to take whereas Brentford can. He's 25 years old with a questionable injury record and only 1 good season under his belt in L2. There doesn't seem to be a lot to justify a fee of £1m so maybe dodged a bullet there.

I doubt he'll be much more expensive as he's only got 1 year left on his contract, even so he's proven to be too good for L1 so there's less risk. Oxford keep talking him and his fee up and his agent is putting his name about in the press but so far no one has bitten, I can't see a prem team going for him so we've as good a chance an anyone in my opinion.

Look he's obviously going to go there and be fcking brilliant isn't he, join Bournemouth for £12m in a year's time and all of that. But we got quite far down the line with the research into him for the signing piece and neither the Scunny nor the Northampton fans could quite believe he was being looked at by Championship clubs for £1m after basically a good year in League 2, particularly after two years of bad knee problems while at the former. I'd have been worried by us paying £1m for him. £500k, which was what was originally quoted and is as think as high as we ever went, maybe.

Like I say, he'll be fcking sensational for Brentford because that's life atm. All the trendy analytics accounts on twitter already creaming themselves over the deal.

Almost certainly. He'll be their player of the year there and score 6 goals next season, all against us.

Have to agree £1m sounds like a calculated risk given his knee history. Obviously if he had come here he would have done both of them standing up after signing his contract.

Never knowingly right.

I'm really starting to take just that bit too much pleasure in anything that mugs off our online mouthbreathers.

Gazump Dykes next, burn it down.

Still the U23's should do alright in League One

Brentford clearly knows what they’re doing so I’m going to see if I can put money on him playing for England

We getting relegated again this year are we? Fifth year in a row that'd be, must be Conference South by now.

He might end up the Charlie Austin of defenders, but the point of that is that, given his persistent shoulder issue and failed medical at Burnley at the time, we were rich and probably reckless enough to spend the £4m where other club's weren't and didn't (and continued not to even after what he did for us). Today we can't afford a Richard Ord.

Or Demba Ba, whose knee was widely known to be liable to explode at any minute over the last decade. It hasn't and he's scored goals the whole time but push comes to shove would you have bet your savings on it?

Anyone else starting to think that Warburton may have to review his stance on Leistner and keep him for this season? Not sure how many central defenders who are actually as good as he is would come in for £500K or abouts and be proven at this level?

Right now if Leistner does leave we are left with one senior CB, Barbet, and discounting Wallace who isn't really a CB and I am not entirely confident, despite his experience, that Wallace really can cope with the pace at this level. Leistner isn't that quick but he dominates in the air.

Seem to feel with what's happened in the world and the quick turnaround that they should simply keep him on or at least until a replacement of equal ability can be found.

So it's all rosy and we're definitely, absolutely without doubt staying up this year unless there's a simply amazing set of results which will never ever happen (even though they ever so nearly did)????

I really enjoyed our tour of League One but I've no desire to repeat it but the clowns in charge seem to push us ever closer.

I'll be sure to have the plastic bed sheets on standby

You have said we're getting relegated every season for the last five years. You've said it right up until the point it's mathmatically impossible at which point you've laughed about it for a week, and then set off about how we're going to be relegated the following season instead. Inevitably, law of averages, one day you might be right, but it's seriously bloody odd behaviour.

We finished higher with more points, more wins, more away wins and more goals last season than the season before, how is this "ever closer"?

Four year contract with a year option for Goode at Brentford BTW.

No idea what to think of him going to the Bees as have never seen him play.

Good to see we are in the same market as the bees considering their recent success flogging players. Hope we are still in to get another centre back, particularly one who can head corners away!

Yeah but no but didn't we make the decision not to go through with it because of his performance in our own medical? That's a very different matter to being pipped to the post by Spartak Hounslow.

Brentford unlikely to be after Rob Dickie now - which I guess is good news if we are interested in him, as reported.

Disappointing not to sign Goode, but sure Warburton has other defensive plans.
