Summer in the city 17:52 - Aug 10 with 4484 viewsqprxtc

It’s hot, bloody hot. Annoyingly hot.

I’m sweating my arse off. When you get down to your g string and you’re still overheating, it’s no fun for anyone.

Someone shoot that big fireball out of the sky and let’s have perpetual night. Bloody thing will implode in a few hmillion years anyway. The horrible bastards.

It’ll also get rid of these little feckers that keep bloody biting me. Christ on a bike, I must be giving blood by the thousand to these gits.

Urgh. Bugger off summer. Give me the warmth of a cold day and the heat of a warm heart.

I’m getting in a cold bath of lager.

It' s so hot. I just warmed my dinner in the microwave.

I'm not sure it'll ever cool down now.

I’m out on the veranda( ie communal walkway of Peabody Estate) drinking and sweating. Just got out of a cold bath too. I am partially dressed.

It’s bloody horrible. Apparently London has never ever had five consecutive days over 34 before, 93 degrees in old money.

Only knew him briefly, think he’d stopped going to Rangers by then. But he was alaways at the bar in The Pav, until that chels bird barred him.

Looks like it'll be dropping from 34 this afternoon to the mid 20's later on.

I'm looking forward to some rain & cooler breezes later.

It starts getting a bit more normal later in the week.

I've actually been loking for excuses to go to the shops so I can have a bit of a/c in my car and in the shop itself. It's bliss.

Quite amazing really, we spend £££ to get to sunshine places where over 30c constantly, but here in the UK we all wilt if going over 25c.

But then unless having a pool or beach close by it is almost torture like, I am lucky, live in the sticks with my own garden, and usually a few degrees below London highs, but boy it is hot out there.

Was in Madrid one year and over 30c at 10/11pm, yet did not seem to be so clammy, not a weather bod so I guess it must be to do with humidity.

Back to sitting in the shade watching those finches ( I think ) singing away, life ain't all bad when the sun shines.

As a Sweaty, I hate the hot nights.

As a rule, for me anything much over 24/5 during the day becomes a bit of a pain.

When it's that temperature overnight AND massively humid it's bollx. Unless you've got aircon.

London is due to hit 34 on Wednesday.

Can't wait.

I don't think those of us with a Celtic heritage are designed for hot weather.

Woke up with a thundering headache this morning, which is gradually wearing off.

A few weeks ago, with the lifting of restrictions on train travel, I booked an "awayday" by train from Birmingham to London. That day is tomorrow, the 13th. Arrive in the capital about 1200, train back home is at 2000. Now, I appreciate that, according to the forecast, it's "only" going to be about 29C tomorrow, rather than the mid 30s that you've been suffering these last few days, but that could be made a lot worse by the thundery showers that are forecast from lunchtime onwards. Really don't fancy wandering round for the best part of 8 hours in a waterproof jacket, just hoping I strike lucky and it stays predominantly dry.

A lot of continental cities seem better designed for the heat. More compact, more trees. The car doesn't seem to be king in the same way it is in the Anglo-American world.

Although, in 'Paris au mois d'août', Aznavour sings about the 'blinding light' of Paris in August.

Or working on the bins. Jeez those bags were bad today on the dog walk, especially the food recycling containers.

I think you guys do a great job in summer and winter.Always remember to give a tip at Xmas.

Thanks

As a postie, I fecking hate this weather. The amount of people who say "oh it must be lovely being out and about in this weather", before sauntering off back to their garden for a glass of something cold.

Just fck the fck off

That sounds like one of those things people say that sounds as though they are intended to make you feel better, but are really intended to make themselves feel better.

I think British residents have become a bunch of wimps. LOL.
5 nights with the temperature not dropping below 20C and people are whinging.

I'm looking forward to the first night this month where the temperature drops below 25. I'm in SW France these days and I wonder how any of the people complaining would cope with truly tropical climates, e.g. Malaysia, Thailand or Middle East

Travel is fatal to prejudice, bigotry and narrow-mindedness, and many of our people need it sorely on these accounts. I'm not long in from work and sitting here with two fans on me, but there seems to be a very slight breeze coming through the window.

Hopefully this will clear that muggy feeling
