My concern is that there will be times when we will not have the ball. Who is going to get it back? I don't want the answer to that question to be Dieng, Kelly or Lumley, when they retrieve it from the net. We need someone who can break up play and shield our relatively weak defence.
PS: Kaitlin Olson looks very nice but I'd prefer to misspell her name and get Kylie Olsson instead

it's only low risk if the wages are low and/or the contract period is short - assuming his stock was fairly high when they first signed him so probably one of Swansea's higher wage earners.
Looked to me that he peaked at 23'ish when he was a fairly regular starter for Spuds and his form has been on a death spiral ever since - when he should've actually been getting better. Not only did they let him go but they apparently paid him to leave - at the age of 27 (not 37), having spent nearly 5 million on him.

He has played 22 games in 2 seasons, including a loan period. If he can't get hardly any games at Swansea then he is not someone we should be even considering. People should remember what they were saying first time he was here. |  | | |

After some consideration I can take him or leave him to be honest, but I think there is a huge difference between a 21 year old making his first steps into football under a not very popular manager for us, and a 28 year old that has played a very considerable amount of games in the Premiership.
Those looking down on him because he couldn’t get more than 22 games for Swansea in two seasons are forgetting that they finished 7 places above us and got into the playoffs. They aren’t in the same hemisphere as us (yeah I know we spanked them 5-0).

I wonder if we are looking to bring him in as the nominated "boo boy" for the season to give the team a clear focal point for fans to scream at during games to massively undermine our own players. That way it can help deflect attention away from other younger players who can get on with learning the trade without fear of being focused on by fans as an object of derision so early on in their careers.
LTC seems to already have plenty of experience in this respect and given his previous experience with the club will surely be able to hit the ground running, so to speak, with fans already able to draw upon abuse from his earlier time with us. |  |

Agree fully with this and others saying if Warburton trusts him then so should we. It will be for a very specialised role in a complex system that he does seem to have the skills for and no doubt Warburton has been monitoring very closely over the past few weeks and won’t be proposing a contract unless he feels he can fulfil the remit. Very different to being more blood thrown into ‘Arrys shambles that he probably spent more time preparing for the 3pm @ Kempton than his midfielder requirements for the 3pm at LR. I didn’t rate him last time he was here either but if Warburton trusts that he will improve the squad and offers a contract I think we should give him a clean slate and see how he beds in. We do IMO still need a Shaun Derry type in there to let the artists paint though, but think the role Carroll plays is an incredibly underrated role and of huge importance in Warburton’s system, one Amos struggled to excel in last year. Hoping the signing of Dickie will also help relieve some of the pressure on Amos/Carroll. Just goes to show what an amazing player Ale Faurlin was for us, but guess he always had Adel in front of him causing havoc.
Also agree there is a degree of arrogance in saying if he is not good enough for Swansea, he will not be good enough for us and something I think we need to avoid. | | | |
