Some of the R Block and me have £100 at 16-1 saying just that pp

I’m tempted a couple of more signings up top and at the back and we can launch a push for promotion, apart from Norwich we should fear no one

And Bowles is onside, Swinburne has come rushing out of his goal , what can Bowles do here , onto the left foot no, on to the right foot That’s there that’s two, and that’s Bowles Brian Moore

Don’t know if this belongs in the ‘Women you shouldn’t’ thread, but I have a big thing for Kaitlin Olson.

I see no reason you shouldn't fancy the Aluminum Monster.

Hell, I've still got a thing for Maureen Ponderosa.

I'm not against this at all, depending on the role he'd take up.

I;d be slow to move Chair, though, particularly if Eze goes. I think we'll need his creativity further back the field. Even a role as second striker might see him too far ahead of the ball.

I see him in the role of 'player' Brian!

Sorry, couldn't resist!

Oh no!

Always thought he was too lightweight and passes back/sideways not forward. Little Matt Smith reminded me of him.

I think Bettache looked better in his couple of performances than Carroll ever did for us. Much more purposeful and decisive.

But goes to show, opinions.

Exactly this. A player of evident skill, but no useful purpose.

Even rejected by the kings of pointless possession is South Wales.

Not fit for purpose last time. At 28, too old to be coached into something different???

So frustrating a player that he made me invoke a deity I don't believe in!

Was a decent player at Swansea at times but it seems he fell off the wagon the last 2 years

In normal times, I’d take a punt b/c there is a decent player in there. But if we are indeed skint, and we only can make a few more signings, wouldn’t we better off strengthening in other areas (eg signing an experienced player, another defender, perhaps bringing in a backup striker on loan)?

It's a no from me. Far too lightweight for the championship and at 28 carries no potential to make the club money downstream.

Sean Gallagher saying we're interested in signing him.

For his on safety, don't let us introduce him on the same day Eze goes.

Interesting article

https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.walesonline.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/

Supporters in these parts began to see what Spurs fans had been saying all along about Carroll; he was slight, easily knocked off the ball, crab-like in his movement. In many ways he was the ultimate arm-round-the-shoulder type of player, and in a relegation fight that trait can be perceived as weakness

Agree. Hardly going to terrorise any opposition midfielders is he? Pretty Football is all very well but as we know, the championship can be brutal at times.

Not for me either. I’d rather a more experienced head and less easily knocked off the ball type midfielder. Is Ben Watson still in the frame, or was that idle internet chatter??

Dunno, but he's much more the sort of player I think we're missing.

This seems like a pretty low risk option to me. He’s unattached and not exactly in demand so he’s not in a position to play hard ball on wages.

He looks to me like a player that needs to play in a very particular type of system. It’s not really a surprise that he ended up at Swansea who, at the time, everyone was calling Swanselona. I would have thought, given the type of football MW is playing, with the right blend of players around him, he could be pretty good moving the ball quickly to people like Chair to do the damage.

28, 100 Prem games in a system similar to ours, free with, presumably, reasonable wage demands, doesn’t seem a massive gamble.

They must have been mad to pay £4.5m for him.

My abiding memory of Carroll was a centre mid of him and Jenas in that abject defeat at Charlton in our last promotion season. Powder puff wouldn’t begin to describe it. Please, never again.

.... and Luke Amos has a lot of Caspar the Friendly Ghost about him too. As a back up to Amos maybe, but those two "commanding a Championship central Midfield? Er, no.

Can we go out yet?

Certainly too lightweight

But have you seen the England squad... no one over 5ft 8.

Mount, foden, rice, winks, ward- prowse.. decent players but no experience or strength.
