Good gag re Pep walking. He was happy to take the oil money at city so I doubt he’ll find his integrity any time soon.

Taking Oil money is one thing, changing the whole of the football landscape to a closed shop is something very different

I had a lot of time for him after his input to Grenfell day and if the rumours are true, he has gone up even more in my estimation.

The grass is always greener.

I agree coming out at LR and playing the pantomime villain was a great move and he went up in my estimation as well.

Yup - agree - also Spuds were in a state when he took over and Man Ure same. We all hate him because of the the Chelsea years but I think he gets a tough time as his standards have been so high over the years.
Let's face it he doesn't need the money so if he has walked out over Super League - fair credit to him !!

I actually don't mind the bloke, his football can maybe classed as a bit droll but he certainly aint.
The Spuds knew what they were getting when they employed him so It's their cock up employing him in the first place, nobody else's.

Ryan Mason taking training the week before the League Cup Final, apparently.

Always an odd choice for a club as self-consciously "entertaining" as Spurs. If they are looking for an old boy with a better understanding of the club to come in take over, the good news is that there is one who has managed the biggest clubs in two countries. The bad news is that it is Serhiy Rebrov!

They sacked Jose because clearly Kane wants out and Kane is no doubt using many excuses to demand out, such as Spurs not investing in players, Manager is arrogant (not that he hates Jose, Kane just wants a move). A bunch of excuses, no doubt fueled by Kane's agent and so on.

So, to try and appease Kane and keep him, by making it harder for him to leave they sack Jose. That and Daniel Levy has unrealistic expectations of what a manager can do at Spurs.

if Jose had won the final, then he could claim he got them a trophy and make it harder for them to sack him so, Levy moved first to destroy that as Jose would be loved by the fans and demand a big transfer budget, when Levy always wants to do it on the cheap.

The next choice of manager will have to be a special one, otherwise, Levy may find his head on the block next.

I think theres a massive difference between mourinho the person and the way he presents himself in order to be effective at his job. Which is both impressive and a crying shame that it's necessary.

Word from an insider was that if Spurs didn't qualify from the Champion League next season then he was gone anyway.

I have loads of Tottenham-supporting, match-going, family and friends, and they all hated the football they played under Mourinho, even when they were winning. They were awful. Winning the league cup wasn’t going to change loads of fans wanting him out. That’s not to say you’re wrong about Levy’s timing/incentive, mind.

I think given a few more years he would have got Spurs firing to be honest. 17 months is nothing. Managers need 3 seasons plus to get stuff right. If they had been mid table like Arsenal you'd think possibly but they aren't that far off top 6 and the squad needs a lot of surgery.

Never knowingly right.

I'm a big believer in giving managers a fair go, but Mourinho as he is now, was always going to be a bad fit at Spurs. They were so negative under him - they went 1-0 up against us at their place after 25 minutes and then put ten men behind the ball until we equalised. And they were like that most weeks. I know a couple of home-and-away every week types who couldn't be bothered to watch them on the telly over the past couple of months.

In the absence of trophies, Tottenham fans cling to the old "To dare is to do" bit, and paying through the nose to watch a not especially successful side playing sh it, boring, unambitious football was never going to be acceptable to most Spurs fans.

My brother pays about £1k for each of his youngest kids' season tickets because you can only get concessions in certain areas of the ground, and all those seats were already allocated. After a year away from going to games, he was beginning to think that he might have something better to do with his £3k per season, and along with several mates/cousins, was seriously considering knocking it on the head if Mourinho was still in charge next season. Just like at Arsenal, if you start charging people £1k+ for a season ticket, they start expecting to be entertained and to be watching a successful side. It has to be at least one of the two, or people struggle to justify the money.

Yes agreed. But we know that with Mourinho, his football was always dire.

I remember being in Spain on holiday and I was watching Real Madrid vs Barcelona in a bar. Real went 2-1 up with Barca getting a man sent off in the first 45 mins.

I said to the Spanish bar owner, the game will finish 2-1 now and nothing will happen as Jose then at the time the manager of Real Madrid will just shut up shop to get the 2-1 win. As entertainment is not his approach, its old school Italian men behind the ball and 1-0 wins.

Spanish bar owner thought I was crazy and that Real being Real would come out and attack attack. The game finished 2-1 as I said and was an ultra boring 2nd half as Real did keep the ball and Barca did not want to concede any more.

Welcome to the world of Jose. Results with a cost of rubbish football.

I think to be honest Kane is just upset that a 13m bid from Sheff utd never materialized.
