To be fair back in 2001 we were in administration for over a year weren't we?

Just as well the current rules weren't around back then, we'd have been royally screwed and tumbled down the leagues if so I think.

I think Rooney's done a marvellous job this year - with all the background rubbish going on, plus players constantly leaving and not being able to bring anyone in, to have survived this long and actually be in a position where without the deduction they'd be happily safe, with a squad full of that many young players, is impressive.

The tricky bit will come next year, because regardless of where they are ownership wise, the expectations completely change. This year has effectively been a free hit - next year the expectation will be to win a lot and be challenging and the pressures that come with that will be very different.

Same goes for a lot of there young players - easier to impress when the pressure is off, compared to next year when they'll be expected to be delivering winning performances most weeks.

This - with all the points deductions, they were expected to be relegated, so I don't think there has been any real pressure on them

Apparently they now owe HMRC 36 million and MSD 22 million, their saviour from America hasn’t once mentioned how he’s going to address these.
The HMRC debt has been accrued completely from not paying PAYE and VAT, absolutely disgraceful, they literally used tax payers money to bolster their squad.

That is a higher HMRC figure than was quoted when Morris quit the scene, but surely the administrators have been paying PAYE & VAT since they took control? Or would interest have been added?

If not, they must be putting their careers at risk I would think.

Been trying to find out, but does this Kirchner actually have any money? Seems to be worth less than Wayne Rooney himself. Who is funding the takeover and will they be even more screwed come next season starting with 5 players and someone who doesn't have the funds to replace them?

It's the last bit that will hit them. Can they resign OOCplayers? Can they recruit when they cant afford transfer fees or decent wages?

Or to put it another way, they took 40% from the players and kept it.

As for the VAT, charged all and sundry 20% and kept that as well.

But hey its all the EFL's fault!

They have got a wage cap for each contract next season and can only(!) spend up to £15.775m on wages and can only have a squad of 25 players max.
I don't see them in the Championship for a while!

That's an enormous budget for L1 - Wigan are limping by on some £7m I think, and they are going up (hopefully, one more easy away game for me).

That's the thing about debt; when no-one pays them off, they get bigger - interest innit...

It is a holy, holy mess. Said it for years; if football wants to get hold of this, the authorities need to apply rules as a condition of membership that require fully transparent disclosure of financials more than is required by the law of the land. Proof of funds for transfers, evidence that tax bills are up to date (no reason why they couldn't impose a six month tax return on each of the clubs), ght of audit and regular audit for any transgressors. Allow any level of "investment" as long as it is hard currency investment that goes into the clubs and not as loans from the owners.

I am no financial expert, but there must be more than can be done to protect members...

Income tax and NI along with employer NI has to be paid each month to HMRC. How long has the non-payment/partial payment been going on for I couldn’t imagine. HMRC should have themselves prosecuted much earlier. I really cannot understand how Kirchner can be a preferred bidder if the suggested bid is £28million. This doesn’t cover HMRC alone let alone the rest of the creditors based on the suggestion that he will pay 35p in the £1 over a period of time. This guy seems to be another Michael Knighton, along for the ego trip. The club is an empty shell at the end of the season but for five contracted players. And once these players cease being paid they will be able to walk due to breach of contract.

Good point about the tax, ni and VAT.

Not sure how everyone just shrugs their shoulders when its a football club, but you can be sure that any other business would not be allowed such non payment on this scale over this period of time!

But if the Administrators have not been paying HMRC this is nothing to do with football.

It is fully qualified accountants flaunting the law. At the very least they would be in danger of being struck off. I would sugest that they would also face prosecution.

A reminder that HMRC DID start proceedings against DCFC in January 2020 for non payment. This had to be put on the shelf when Covid arrived & Morris placed the club in administration to prevent HMRC from doing so. Hence, why Morris appointed the administrators & not HMRC.

They started proceedings in Jan 2020 - so we can assume that for the vast period it IS the football club that has not being paying tax PLUS, even if they waited only 6 months before starting proceedings, we're now at 3 years worth of non payment of tax - can you really see that being allowed with any other business?

Yes I can. I've seen it happen time & again.

To make matters worse, the business has restarted under a different name & new directors (bur the same owner) & repeated the non payment.

What I don't understand, is why the two divisions of HMRC don't share information & automatically flag a defaulter to the other sector - VAT being monitored seperately to PAYE/NIC.

Because they run those departments like private business as they have told to be like private business as supposedly that's more efficient as the public sector is so bad

This means running separately like a small business within a business (as many companies do) and competing against each other rather than helping each other. Like its some internal marketplace as many people think that competition within your own org is somehow efficient.

Yet it's the same so-called private sector that has failed customers that the public sector would be investigating. Therefore this proves that even an inefficient public sector is still better than the private sector.

But people known as right whingers, won't have it, too angered that a civil servant working from home on Zoom is providing intelligence data to troops in Ukraine fighting against Putin fascists or in this case trying to get Vodafone to pay their taxes but being blocked by Liberal Vince Cable as he lets em off the hook whilst telling us they are keeping the Tories in line.

Top priority from the right whingers I see again.

off the people of Derbyshire, whether they like it or not.

Tbh, if the new owner is guaranteeing to lease it back and then buy it down the road, and he financially checks out, I wouldn't have a problem with it.

The football club, rightly or wrong lying, is seen as a big asset in the city. Losing the club would hit the local economy, big time. If they can borrow £25m and pay off Morris with a realistic ground value it could prove a sound investment.

But, I haven't got the necessary details to verify that last proposition.

As I said before EFL will keep them going until the season ends, which is the playoffs.

Then Derby is out of the league unless they can show they are fully out of admin regardless of take over or not.

However as there is only less than 2 months to go, I doubt it. This club will probably fold. AFC Derby County will be started soon.
