Who is out of contract in the summer? 22:55 - Oct 5 with 3730 viewsdavman

I think Albert is in his second season in a two year deal and Barbet is in his third season of a three year deal. Shodipo will be out of contract in the summer. Also Dom Ball, Super Lee-O, Dillon Barnes and Charlie Owens.

I guess Uncs will be on his way with Mido, Super Lee-O, Dillon Barnes and Charlie Owens. If we stay in this league, Dom Ball would be worth an extension - he has certainly improved since he got here although Sam Field is a significant upgrade if we can get him on the pitch. Barbet is the one I think we should keep even if we stay at this level or go up. He has improved immeasurably since the move to the back three and plays every minute.

Thoughts?

Can we go out yet?

Barbet is a strange one of we go up… I’ll get shot down for this, but I wonder if the Premier league would suit his game more than the championship.

Barbet should be signed up on a new contract ASAP: integral part of the team.

I think Ball signed a new deal last year till 2023

You've got most of the season end expiring contracts there davman, just need to add Odubajo who is on a one year contract with a club option to extend to 2023, which I'm not convinced will be activated.

Shodipo's contract has a club option to extend to 2023 too and my guess is they'll activate that and get a transfer fee as he's done well in L1.

I agree with the others you think will be released, with Ball retained if we're in this league and Barbet whatever the case. I'd like to see Barbet's contract extended in January.

Or half their team lose Blackburn the end of the season… could be an interesting transfer market next summer given restricted finances in the EFL.

If super Lee-O is Lee Wallace then sign him up 1 or 2 years. Injury prone or not appears to have great value to the squad.

Hang on didnt he just re-sign?

I'm renewing Dom Ball regardless.

Aside from the comedy value of seeing him careering around/into those expensively assembled Premier League midfields, I also think he'd deserve it for being such an integral part of the first team that would have got us promoted. Even if he's getting reduced minutes, every team needs a Dom Ball.

I would certainly give Uncle another year.

Uncle should get 1 more year on reduced terms I would guess. Moses, I expect us to extend for 1 more year as it's an easy way to cover RB.

Ball (Cheap) and Barbet (top CB) will get new contracts for sure.

Wallace will be let go as he's getting injury prone and we tried already to replace him. Next summer or even starting in Jan, I expect us to bring in 2 left-backs. I would not be surprised if we actually pay big monies for McCallum. Even going wild with £3m of Eze monies on him.

I doubt Shodpio will get a new deal, he will be let go. Any xfer fee, if we did renew, would be tiny and not worth it. Also, he got injured again whilst out on loan so, he's always in the treatment room. Just like Smyth who we let go of as well.

Quite a few of these players who we let go last summer have not really gone on to greatness. Look at Manning who we did get a fee for, now playing CB now for Swansea and we know he hates playing in defence. Also the BOS saga continues to play out across the net. Expect loadsa stories about him in Jan being sold to either of the old firm.

zzzzzzzzzz

I was looking at how BOS was doing at Fenerbahce the other day and it looks like it's going better for him this season. He's started 6 and come on as a sub in 2 of the league 8 games Fenerbahce have played, scoring a goal and getting an assist. His rating seems fairly good and Fenerbahce are top of the league.

Good. He had great potential. I loved watching him play at his heights. As much the club's fault as his that he left us...

Completely agree and would add in the thought that if we get promoted then relegation the following year is a realistic risk, in which case a Dom Ball who's had more experience and who knows we stuck by him could be a very useful player.

In general, if we were promoted, I'd favour sticking as close as possible to the team that achieved it and if we go down, feck it, I don't mind yo-yoing if that's what's needed financially, it'd probably be more fun than scraping by every year. It's not as though signing loads of new players worked for us either of the last two promotions.

Thing is its easy to say we're happy with yo yo-ing, but the relegation seasons are tough, tough, tough in that league. After last season's procession to the title, I am sure that Norwich fans are really loving life right now. They are probably looking forward to the end of the season so that they can romp to the Championship title once more.

Wishing a season away is such a bloody waste. I don't want to go to that horrible league until we are sure that we will be competitive. If that means never, then so be it.

Ideally I'd like us to be doing what (trigger alert) Brentford are doing now or Bournemouth dd in the past.

But we've got to be realistic. Season before last were into Robith's Relegation Index. We've not had years of being a competitive Championship side. Maybe that's what we should be hoping for now but I can't help feeling that this year is a big chance - due to the state of the division, players just coming right for us etc. I'm not sure we have years of being a play-off side available to us. If yo-yo-ing is what it takes, I just think there are worse things (and we've seen plenty of them over the last 20 years)

I sympathise with your view of "that horrible league" but after the awful times (and football) that we went through as a result of the club's finances I think we have to grab the chance to put them on a secure basis.

We took the yo-yoing route last time when we changed all the team!

If we were to struggle, I would much prefer to do so with players that care & try for us. I think we can agree that this would mean retaining most of our current team.

There’s usually an extra years option for the club too so I expect they’ll either take that up or offer him an extension.

Yep, the club does have an option of a further year on Odubajo's contract.
