Re the Dunne penalty shout, they showed another angle on TV where it looked to me like they both had big handfuls of each other's shirts, so I didn't get too annoyed about it at the time, and thankfully made no difference in the end anyway. |

Agree with Clive about the 'missing' Derby yellow 1st half but otherwise ref was good - nothing much to ref, but again 6 incredibly harsh - 4 points off for it being an easy game and one missed yellow? |  | |  |

Fair enough - not for me, but its all opinions in the end.
He was pretty consistent ("Consistently wrong" - be quiet at the back - as Clive would say) as he didn't penalise Charlie for a push in the 1st half - about our only chance that.

I thought we were slightly below par in our passing and I thought we really missed Dykes' energy, but it's a sign of how good we are now that we were still comfortably the better team. | |

On the marking though, we never give 10s, Mark Clattenburg Wigan play-off semi final always springs to mind as one of the best refereeing performances I've ever seen live, I think I gave that a 9. We've given some 8s, but can we say Jeremy was really that close to Clattenburg the other night?
I always mark harsh anyway, 6 is about right. Maybe a 7 if you're adament Dunne wasn't a penalty, and that weird thing in the first half where Adomah got fouled and fouled again weren't actually fouls at all, and missing a pretty obvious pull back yellow etc etc. | | | |

I thought the ref was poor for both sides - almost seemed to just ignore lots of challenges from both sides. Probably should have issued 2 or 3 yellow cards - until he booked Gray, I genuinely thought he had forgotten to bring them! |  |

One thing I'd add about the penalty is that even if you didn't give for the pull on Dunne, you'd have to give it for what Byrne is doing to Dickie right next to them.

There’s pushing and pulling off the ball from corners, which we have to accept goes on, and then there’s yanking someone back at the moment they’re about to score. I actually don’t have a problem with the ref missing it as it’s tough in a 6 yard box melee, but retrospectively, come on, that is a pen all day long, I don’t care what happened before. If we’re saying Dykes’ foul at Boro was a pen - and I had no problem at all with that decision - this was far, far more deserving. (Missing Austin’s blatant push first half was a far bigger mistake, although maybe he would have blown had it gone in). |  |

TBF Clive, that is all good - for some reason I WAS a bit grumpy ref wise yesterday - didn't have a very enjoyable game Monday night - U23s, who are usually pretty well behaved, constantly moaning about EVERYTHING - eventually ref gave up and gave one a sin bin.
Actual marking for promotion purposes, DOES actually take into account the ease of the match to referee - so for an easy match, a referee could be faultless yet still only get 70 -73 (Out of 100) - something like that.
Agree completely about Clattenburg - high pressure, fast game with one or two KMIs to call - all correct and positioning spot on all night. | | | |

Absolutely see your point, but really you're saying, in effect, OK for attackers to do the pulling/shirt tugging but not the defenders.
You admit that Dunne WAS holding the other guy's shirt - its a difficult 'sell' as a ref to say you didn't see that but DID see/penalise the defender? | | | |
