I'd rather the club spent its money on coaching, infrastructure, playing staff and its wonderful community work rather than paying for extra stewarding and fines related to violence, crowd trouble and illegal activity.

"Things had started becoming increasingly desperate at Loftus Road but QPR have been handed a massive lifeline and the place has absolutely erupted. it's carnage. It's bedlam. It's 1-1."

I liked the comment on the floodlights “every area is brighter than last year, but some are brighter than others”
Similar to George Orwell's Animal Farm “all animals are equal but some are more equal than others”

The report on the Euro 2020 final came out today is genuinely shocking how some people chose to behave

I read a summary on the RTE website and one shocking revelation jumped off the page .
A group of 6000 ticketless individuals were ready to storm the gates once they were opened to allow fans out if England won .Imagine the crush, fear desperation of people leaving getting met by that mob its sickening thinking about it .
Apparently people were still getting without tickets up to the penalty shoot out.I assumed it was pre kick off and not the entire time .
I hope the atmosphere at QPR games continues to be fun and safe going forward

It must be very worrying for the authorities and government, the willingness of a significant numbers of society to engage is flagrant criminal activity despite all the CCTV etc

Combine that with the massively increased ability to mobilise and communicate through social media and comms apps and you have potential civil disorder on a scale that could become unmanageable quickly.

It’s in the Beeb website now and makes for shocking reading. Surely we’ve blown our chances of the 2030 World Cup now but to be honest I think it’s probably for the best?

Yeh it’s like drinking in the stands - something pre pandemic I would have said was obviously a good thing we should do but now think they opposite.

the wembley euro final was a fiasco. police were "booked" to arrive at 3pm, by then the report states fans were already out of control and had been drinking in ever increasing numbers from 8am! when will the media take some blame? they showed the build up pre denmark, showing fans drinking, knees up and all that, fireworks and all fun, then it got bigger and worse for semi, then surprise surprise drunk mobs turn up for the final!?
the few games i had been at wembley, police were taking alcohol from fans, keeping them moving etc . this tournament, different mindset but our police know our fans.
NO WORLD CUP HERE in my lifetime.

I’m not getting annoyed, the discussion is a welcome distraction from writing a budget and my upcoming weekend with the kids.

We are getting into Twitter territory here where righteousness trumps the argument in question.

How should we measure ‘decent people’? Fighting yes, 100%, the majority of violence is abhorrent and not necessary and I don’t want to be near it, I don’t want my kids to be near it or my season ticket holding 70 year old mother to be near it. Those coming to QPR for that should be banned. Go get your fix elsewhere.

Threatening behaviour? See it all the time at games in the stand and the majority is hot air with no intent. Coke taking? Don’t see it as any different to the people who drink excessively and behave in an awful manner (not exclusive to football btw). Who we are to judge what poison people use to enhance their life.

I was making the opposite opinions point just for that reason, that the same thing and the same person will invoke difference opinions. For the record, I think Hoos is doing a brilliant job and we are lucky to have him. One comment won’t cloud my judgement on that.

I’m not annoyed, it’s been great. You can’t truly debate using digital means anyways. Have a good Friday and hopefully 3 points against those quiet, unassuming types from Stoke!!

So let me get this straight

You don't want your kids or 70 year old mother to be near violence - Yep that's a good start.

But then its ok to witness threatening behaviour (Happy to be threatened in front of your kids and mother I assume) and people shoving coke up their noses??

Right

I would like to think our CEO is passionate about our club and wants to tackle the behaviour of a minority of fans. Better that than someone who doesn't give two hoots and just collects his salary at the end of the month. And lets face it, we have had a few of them!!

Here, I’ll help you get it straight.

I don’t live in a bubble and realise that if I take my kids to football they will see threatening behaviour. I sit in A Block and see and hear things all the time, as do my family. For the most part between our fans and the away end, and more rarer, towards staff (stewards, kiosk staff) or between QPR fans.

As for the coke taking, we frequent pubs, pre and post match. I would bet that there are people either holding or taking in the pub. Now where we go can limit the exposure by going to somewhere Princess Vic compared to the Connigham. Again I don’t live in a bubble.

If I really wanted to limit the exposure to any threatening behaviour or drug taking, then I wouldn’t even go to football at all but I live in the world that we are in and I don’t advocate for sheltered experiences/upbringings as I believe that can just as harmful, maybe even more so.

Also, I’m not saying Hoos shouldn’t care, of course he should, he, along with the shareholders and other staff are responsible for the experience and brand of the club, after all, they impact the bottom line. I was just saying I didn’t think he should publicly say he is ‘pi ssed off’ ‘embarrassed’. Those are emotional responses which are unprofessional and potentially unhelpful, IMHO.

As one of very few here who actually holds Hoos to account for his performance here and finds it wanting, especially in regard to the stadium, I actually had no problem at all with him calling out the scummy/parasitic inflitration of the fanbase ('emotionally' or otherwise), even though I think it's a stewarding and police issue, if anyone's.

Why anyone would want to defend the 'rights' of such people is beyond me, however. I've made a careful scientific analysis of all the factors and have concluded they're c*nts.

Poll: What will be our upcoming/final points tally? (8 games to go)

I don't want to sound like a grumpy old git but is the rise in the hooligan element at QPR just a reflection of what we are seeing in society as a whole? Report on the radio today saying that homophobic hate crimes are at a 10 year high. There's so many fatal stabbings these days that it just does not have an impact anymore (young teenagers killing other young teenagers). I know someone who works in the Police and they said to me "you have no idea how bad the levels of drug use are in London now". I think violence in virtually every aspect of life has become normalised which is all very depressing and I have no idea how to improve things? I could go on and on and on but don't want to bore people to death.

late to the party here, but you are absolutely correct. It is literally a daily occurrence to hear snorting in a pub, bar, and even restaurant toilets in the city. The cocaine capital of Europe etc etc. Defo not a QPR thing, defo still a f*cking bad thing

I sent a small donation to the fund in this man's name with a message so his family knew it was from a QPR fan. A tiny gesture to distance our club from some of the scumbags Hoos has identified.

I’m not sure who is defending people who act violently at football, it’s certainly not me.

I hope fans who witness threatening behaviour and/or drug taking can report it to a steward or the police. If you don’t want to speak to the police or steward, remember there is a QPR hotline (he-he) to report it on as well. By not doing anything, surely we are condoning it? I doubt many, if any, will do anything other than complain on here.

Changing a situation for the better normally requires ownership and logical action, not getting emotional and shifting blame.

To end, violence is wrong, Hoos is a very good CEO and the vast majority of our tribe are decent human beings.

Our drugs legislation in the UK needs a complete rethink but this policy is quite right. Any consumption of drink or drugs whilst at work should be dealt with.

I would also support such a deterrent at QPR with refusal denied to anyone caught in possession. In time, it will could also be prohibited to carry tobacco into a stadium.

With regards to the water pressure, why don’t the club just install a water tank and booster pump set? Would be less than 10 K.

Did you go to the fans forum?

Yeah, it was alright, but a lot of old people and their opinions.
