The Dieng moment. 19:34 - Aug 14 with 5108 viewsMick_S

We’ve got to cling onto moments like these. For those of you that were there, hats off. But where were you? I was at a wedding in Cadmore End in Bucks with quite a few Rangers in attendance. 2-0 down came across the table. Then 2-1. When my mate explained how it ended I almost made a speech. Bonkers.

My team.

Did I ever mention that I was in Minder?

I am sure that we must have, but have we thrown games in a similar manner? I only remember our come backs rather than ones we have chucked - my selective memory...

Port Vale (a)
Newcastle (h)
Derby (a)
Brentford (h)
Sunderland (a)

Can anyone remember conceding two goals at the end of a game to throw away a win?

Can we go out yet?

Northampton away in our Division 2 days.
2 up and cruising even the players were laughing amongst themselves, we clung on at the end!

Remember Ainsworth grabbing a couple against Preston at HQ in injury time to draw 2-2 around 2005 and of course the goals that none of us saw as we’d all left against Brentford in 2017.

I was there , mayhem when Seny scored, after watching so much dross over 40 years it’s moments like that and Zamora day that make it all worthwhile, I can’t describe how good it makes you feel . Another view was seeing a young Sunderland fan outside crying , his family consoling him . And you know what it’s like when it happens to us. This is why we go , what a game , stuff watching it on Sky

Excellent!

Can anything except a football match do that to a grown man?

Great question. Please take this in the spirit intended. Sat in a hospice waiting for a rather inevitable outcome with a lovely Rs supporting family member. Listening to the Nick London/ Andy S version

The sheer joy for both of us allowed us to lose ourselves momentarily. Well done my team and Illy and Seny in particular

Thank you ❤️

It’s all changed so much in the 18 years since I lived up in Gateshead.A lot of the decent pubs have gone, and the rest weren’t exactly packed last night in the toon.We went in the star in westgate Rd and there was a band playing all the old punk songs from 76&77.My 2 Geordie mates wanted to go elsewhere, but I was happy where we were. Most of the ones we went in to afterwards had just a handful of people in them.Even the Strawberry was empty.

My sister in law lives in Rottingdean, yesterday was her birthday and we were invited down for lunch,I did explain to the Mrs we couldn’t stay over as I had work today, that there is a rail strike, heatwave and that Brighton were at home, we had to drive past their ground, we set off at 8:30 and got there at 2:00, was in the middle of lunch when an excited eldest son rang me screaming down the phone that Seny had scored.
Took 4 1/2 hours to get home as well but the thought of getting in and watching the highlights kept me going.

I have to say I find all this vlogging stuff a bit weird. Can kinda understand it for those who are early 20s/teens as that seems to be how they consume media these days but blokes in their 40s/50s plus? Cringe.

Saturday I saw the HT score, and didn't find out about the full time result until I got home at 5.30. I spent my Saturday clearing out my Grandad's house and visiting his grave so wasn't really in a football mindset, but pleased to see we didn't lose and had some fight in us.

Rushden & Diamonds, 3-1 up thanks to Gareth's two wonder strikes and Furs, ended 3-3.

Yes the town isnt what it used to be , hardly go in myself . The Ouseburn valley is more lively for a beer these days . The Star used to be pretty
Rough but as you say has some good bands on . Leeds Manchester York Sheffield much better nightlife these days I think

Well I was in row T-ish, I think. And then a short time later I was in row N, and about 30 seats to the right.

Sky Monday night game, 2-0 up at home a minute after half time against Spurs in the first Prem relegation season, well in control and cruising and then Ready makes a typically brainless challenge on Sheringham in the area to give a penalty away which completely turned the game and we end up losing 3-2.

The full vlog this bloke did is about 20 mins and worth a look. He ends up back home ranting about the owners not spending enough and the squad outside the first 11 not being good enough. Sounds slightly familiar.

As for Dieng, obviously every time he gets the ball from now on eveyrone has to shout "SHOOT!"

Ugh, this game sticks in my mind.

I was in Fiji backpacking, having left after the end of the previous decent season. Was in a cafe with the Brentford mate I was travelling with when the result came through on the radio there, feeling good hearing the "QPR 2" and then crushed with the Spurs 3 and the ensuing pisstaking.

That was the moment my faith in us not getting relegated post Les started to evaporate.

Wasn’t that the Gurnham Singh referee debacle?

Karl Ready….. thickest footballer going (except for Jason McAteer). He told me he thought he was a better player than Macca and actually believed himself.

Cherish and enjoy life.... this ain't no dress rehearsal

R&D were a cracking little club.
Really enjoyed that day out there and they looked a tidy outfit. I seem to recall Brian Talbot was their Manager that game?

This one jumped into my memory plus of course the Aguerroooooooooooooh game.
Another that sticks in the mind / throat was Cantona scoring during blind date in W12. Juergen Sommer got a big FA fine for an interview he did after when he alluded to crooked referee practices and that the ref was basically playing on until Utd scored. Can’t recall who was reffing that day but I’m thinking maybe Jon Moss????

No, I think the Gurnham Singh game was the last season of the old first division as I'm sure Lineker was playing his last season before getting his final massive pay cheque in Japan. I don't think Singh reffed in the Prem. I think it might've been Elleray who was the ref.
