The first thing is that neither player is certain to be playing. Perhaps Dieng has the better chance of starting matches, depending on whether Senegal take into account their first choice 'keeper isn't playing at present.
As to qualification, it will be interesting to see if Croatia have enough left in their aging tank to defeat Morocco in the heat of Qatar. Also Ecuador are a better side than are often credited with & do not rely on altitude as they used to, possibly due to their players playing in Europe.

Morocco gave impressive debuts in the last international break to players who'd be in direct competition with Chair, one from La Liga and one from Serie A. If he goes and gets a game, he'll have really earned it. I'll be surprised if we see Dieng playing unless Mendy gets injured.

Perhaps it is because it is not the Premier.
The three player rule is not for the world Cup. It applies to all internationals at any age range, hence why some League One games are postponed during international breaks. In the middle of December the only internationals taking place are at the World Cup. | | | |

If Chair gets any game time, he will likely be sold.
I am okay with this if .. .and its a big if, we use that money to tie Willock down to a longer-term contract with no get-out clauses like if a prem club comes in for him or price valuation is met or both. As I said a big IF.
It would probably mean paying Willock way over the wage budget of approx £20K per week. Special price for a special player and against everything else we have been doing. I would pay that risk for a player who I consider is Prem class playing for little ole QPR way below his level.
Then use the rest to pay for Tim Iroegbunam and Ethan Laird. After that, there won't be any left :P
Dieng I would be happy to sell, even though I think he's great. Goalkeepers are easier to replace than outfield players. Its wrong but true. |  |
