After watching Fulham v Spurs last night and hearing some of Spurs' self-entitled fans constantly singing " we want Levy out" after all that he has done for that club, I really don't care if we never make it to the "promised land" again.
However If we do, we have to be realistic, learn our lessons from previous Premier League mistakes and look after the largesse just like Crystal Palace did when they first gained promotion.
The squad that got them promoted through the play-offs was much weaker than our promoted squad under Neil Warnock, they barely added to it. Their fans got and still get what they are about and where they have come from, I'm not sure if we do get it anymore. QPR being a permanent fixture in the Premier League "as is", will never happen.
Palace have been there for 10 consecutive seasons, yet they have kept their perspective. We keep talking about a new ground as if it will be the panacea. By way of layout and discomfort, their ground isn't too dissimilar to ours, just a larger capacity of 25.000. i hated the premier league. the first season was just about OK, as it was an opportunity to go to a few new grounds, and we survived, but the second season under Hughes was awful. i gave up my season ticket at the end of it, as the gulf between us and the "top teams " TM SKY was so much, that the results were soul crushing, it wasnt a level playing field and never will be until finances are shared across all of football.
so I'll be honest, I dont care if we do get promoted. i more care that the football is enjoyable, and exciting and we flirt with promotion and maybe we do go up, but its not the end of the world if we dont. |  |

Love it. Just 18 points separate third top from third bottom in the league.
It's not the best for overall quality, but at least virtually every side goes into each game with a realistic chance of winning. We manage to get 4 points in the two games against Sheffield United, but lose to Huddersfield and Blackpool at home, and draw at home to Rotherham.
If the two lost games had been won, we'd now be level on points with Watford. It's a crazy league and I like it. | | | |

Meanwhile, Levy has now been in charge for 20 years, yet they haven't won a trophy since 2008, and even then it was only the the League Cup. Against that backgroud, Spurs fans regularly pack out a 60k stadium, despite paying just about the highest tivket prices in the PL, which must mean the highest in Europe. I read recently that this includes 42k ST holders with a further 96k on the waiting list,with a six figure membership renewing every season.
During that time, the fans have witnessed Levy appointing, then sacking 12(?) permanent managers, both crap (eg Christian Gross), overrated/overpaid eg Mourinho), but also well-liked and respected (eg Pochettino, who had to go two transfer windows without a single signing - unique in PL history):

I don't profess to being a Spurs supporter, I'm forever R's. However from the outside, I'd say that he's taken them a very long way in those 20 years. No club has a God-given right to expect to win the major honours. I see Spurs as a very well run club that has competed at the top table but just fallen short. No shame in that.
They only just lost out to Liverpool in the "Champions League" final a few years back. Finished second in the league under Pochettino on one occasion. They're currently 3 points behind Man United and Newcastle in the league, so a top-four finish is a realistic aim.
As for consulting fans/fans' representatives re: Super League, virtually all of the so-called big clubs acted with disdain and failed to consult their respective fanbases either.

When Levy took over, Spurs were one of the Bif Five. In the 20 years prior to that, they had won two FA Cups, a League Cup and a UEFA Cup.
In the succeeding 20 years, they are now part of the Big Seven (incls Newcastle) and have won a solitary League Cup, 15 years ago. JMeanwhile, the rest of the Big Five must have won 50+ trophies between them.
And all that's before you also account for the concurrent rise of Chelsea, back then a rubbish club, playing in a crumbling, half-empty sh1thole, under a total arse in Ken Bates.

League One was fun as we won more than we lost. Adel's season in the Champ was fun for the same reason as were the first two seasons of the Barclays Cash Cow Game Destroying League. Other than that and 2021, it has been rather shite being a QPR fan. |  |

Interesting perspectives here about the Championship being more competitive. That is true to a point but the two auto promotions usually go to teams with parachute money and it is heading that way again this season. It is through the play offs that clubs without parachute money succeed like Brentford and Forest. Basically the top of the Championship at the end of the season will have the wealthiest at the top like the Premier league.
It is understandable fans don't want to see us struggling to score, win and have long losing streaks in the Premiership. However, one win on 13 is damning and this is Championship football. I can understand us on a run like that in the Premiership but the rubbish we have been served up in the last three months in a division of mediocrity is unacceptable. We support a team that cannot score in front of its own fans which has gone on all season down the Loft end.
Unless something happens with finances then we are stuck in this rut of lack of quality and weak willed players turning out for us. |  | | |
