There were some people on here at half time who should be ashamed at themselves. Complaining when we're drawing 0-0 away at the best team in the division in a game of that importance. Quoting possession stats and moaning because we're not playing like Barcelona. After a terrible run when we have usually been 1-0 down within ten minutes I was super pleased with that and actually thought we could just go on and nick it. Did you moan at Wembley on Bobby Zamora day, which was like Rourke's drift? When we see commitment, determination, people putting bodies on the line to make blocks bloody well applaud it. No, as much as Burnley are very good, first half we were awful - gave them the wings, too much time, too many chances, 25 completed passes, ffs. Second half, so much better - got tighter, substitutes improved us, carried a threat. Whatever was said at half time, and the substitution, worked very well. We weren't great but what it looked like to me was we were just so nervous. You could completely contrast the two teams. Burnley were passing confidently, pushing up. Their goalie ran out to claim corners, crosses and freekicks. We were tentsitve and cautious, camped out in our own half and worried about dropping a clanger. Our goalie was really nervous about leaving his line and being exposed.
Once we scored we looked so much more relaxed and took the game to them much more and looked a better team as a result. |  | | |

the second half was better ... we scored a flukey goal against the run of play and were, surprise surprise, better once adomah and drewe came off... credit to the players for playing really well at the end, particularly after they scored their goal
obviously i am delighted (and shocked) we won today
this one performance might keep us up... but it doesnt really erase the shocking run of form since october..... it doesnt erase the fact that the ainsworth appointment was brainless

Qpr haven’t been unlucky in our poor run

Arguably we got unlucky against Sunderland in that chair missed a late penalty that would’ve equalised (though we lost 3-0).
The mental thing abt the run is that most of the results have been us losing quite decisively- 4 3-0 losses at home, 6-1 at Blackpool etc etc

I'd agree, and congratulate us on our second half performance - we defended better, we attacked in greater numbers, we got tighter to them, we scored 2 good goals. But I'm not being castigated for not being happy about a first half performance where we managed to pass to a team mate about once every 2minutes!

And if we had lost the sensitive souls getting upset at you here would have carried on explaining how they would have managed a team that has barely won a game for the last 14 months to a result against one of the Championships most successful teams. Playing pretty football on their way to preventing Burnley winning the title
Hopefully though that fighting spirit and grit that Ainsworth is trying to build. Effectiveness on set pieces is coming through and there may be more posible days ahead who knows | | | |

GA doesn't get nearly enough credit for picking up on how important the mental side of football is. People too easily forget the dog's abuse he was getting in the early days at Wycombe when they nearly went out of the Football League. To climb from that to promotion to the Championship with literally NO money to spend is a massive achievement, as Wycombe fans will tell you.
As I said on another thread yesterday, if he can achieve that there, why not be hopeful for what he can achieve here with so much more to work with?
It might not happen as quickly as what some people seem to think we have a right to expect, but I believe he will put a smile back on our bigger collective faces - at least as big as the one we've all got tonight. | | | |

Chair and Paul closed Benson down well in the first half, it was Drewe who got a roasting on the left wing.
Under the circumstances I thought that was a great effort today and the subs helped no end. Sinclair was a monster when he came on, plenty of pace and aggression. Scared the Burnley defence to death.

I understand why people were whinging at half time, although I didn't think it was totally fair. For twenty minutes we were fragile & outplayed. If we had been three down it would not have been undeserved.
Yet, after Harewood-Bellis(?) missed a simple chance, I thought the threat from Burnley mainly disappeared & I was surprised when they finally managed to score. Indeed, in the second half we were more threatening than they were. Playing in their half of the pitch made such a difference.
If I'd been at Burnley, I would have hated the start of the game, but come the interval, I think I might have started to think we were in with a chance. | | | |
