Great team performance,
1st cross was all about putting into danger area, poor defending but great movement by Smyth,
2nd cross one touch and played a blind cross, but key again was quick ball into the danger area and again superb movement to attack the ball,
MOTM and if he can keep that quick passing up he'll go up another level, delighted for him, Willock + Smyth.
15 great performances tonite, but Chairs movement + quick ball was the catalyst. |  | | |

Chair has his faults but can’t believe any fan would not see him as one of our best players. Without doubt the most talented and ability to create so much, nightmare to defend against. Bit more consistency and will surely end up at top Championship or Lower Premier League side. |  | | |

Chair is without doubt slinging the ball into the box earlier, but it needs runners to be attacking the cross. Tonight we had them, although he did put in another good ball that no one attacked and he did remonstrate with Smyth I think it was. There has definitely been work on this tactic in training and it is clearly paying dividends.
To see the Illy and Willy combination back out there is a joy to behold. Massively impressed with what Marti has achieved within such a short space of time. Shame we didn’t bring him in when Beale baled, it would have saved a year of sheer torture for the players and the fans.
Can enjoy the weekend now after two stirring, liberating, joyous wins. Incredible. | | | |

Chair and Willock are rolling again. Also like Dixon-Bonnar another slow burner who is starting to make a big difference in the midfield. Clarke-Salter looked commanding at the back and we have to hope his glass feet don't shatter again. [Post edited 1 Dec 2023 22:47]

Probably my favourite player in the team yes he does frustrate holding onto the ball too long at times. Think he sometimes tries too hard looking to do it all on his own but other than Hull away last season cannot think of another game where he didn't keep running even whilst other around him go through the motions

I really struggle to understand fans who criticise Illy. Ok he is not perfect but he is the latest in a seemingly never ending line of flair players that we have in that position. I never seen him give less than 100 % for the team and keep trying to create something even during the recent dark days of poor managers. We are lucky to have him and would miss his input greatly if he left. | | | |

Not sure I've ever seen a single poster say 'you cant win with Chair in the side' or that he should be dropped, but it was that conundrum where we can't play without him (to retain possession in the final third) but for all that possession we were'nt creating enough chances,

I think the quote was along the lines of...
'Chair is a very good player, but I'm not sure he's a player who can play in a winning team'
Now for all the undoubted bllx Beale spoke, that is a very telling comment from a very experienced high level coach, that can be interpreted in a number of ways, as not sure Beale ever explained himself,
My interpretation, and we all have our opinions, is that Chair is a very (very) good individual player but does he translate that into very good play that benefits the team,
Before Marti, I don't believe we score that 2nd goal v Preston, as too often Chair has let the perfect get in the way of the good, to coin a phrase, trying to work the ball back into his right foot to find the top corner, rather than playing a quick first time ball,
Instead now, he is consistently playing good (if not always perfect) early balls into the box and we are seeing the reward as a team. If continues playing as he has in his last 2 games he will get a Premier League move and we will cash-in on one of our most valuable assets. | | | |

I'm as excited about Cifuentes as anyone but he heasn't found Chair at the back of the shed. Chair's been an excellent and effective creative player for years. Perfect, no, but excellent and effective, most definitely. | |

Talent and graft that's been part of a multitude of teams, styles, systems and positions, nearly all of them absolute dog shít, and just gets on with trying to win games for us, often on his own.
Those 2 halves were a perfect example of us with and without Chair, and aside from the occasional flash from Willock or purple patch from Bright, that's been the case for years. |  |
