Anyone know what's going on at WLS?

No report on the new CEO and now nothing on the Dozzel move.

Dave McIntyre seems to be very quiet at the moment. Is he OK?

There's one in particular who's got about 300 followers, talks unmerciful and sustained nonsense, is clearly about 12 years old, who I've got muted, who I've got in my muted words, who I've repeatedly told Twitter "I'm not interested in this", and yet must do something to Elon's algorithm because the fcking platform serves me him over and over and over and over again.

That would be Sakura circumnavigating Elon's algorithms.

I used to be on Twitter and used it in a professional capacity before a career change - as I worked in TV before that business started to disappear. I was Jimeevans/JevsTV on there - and used to tweet a fair amount about QPR. - if anyone cares…

But it became increasingly a cesspit of trolls, so binned it all off.

To be trying to maintain a professional account on there up against the trolls and the ever decreasing finances in media/journalism, not a surprise Dave Mc turned it in… but it’s a real shame though as WLS provided proper QPR insight.

And other than on here was the only place I’d read about QPR and trust.

Dave Mc on the lack of QPR coverage by WLS

That's a shame. Someone moaning to Dave Mc about it as though there is some divine right for WLS (not a paid service) to provide great QPR content. As someone said above, it has to be commercially viable and with everyone else in the Premier now, I can see Dave Mc's issue.

Which makes me even more grateful for Clive and this site. *checks Patreon subscription'.

Yep, agree mostly but as someone posted in the comments to DMcs message, QPR fans seem to be WLS's largest audience. It surely makes sense for DMc to keep us connected to WLS.

Well it might seem that way because of Dave's obvious in-depth interest to all things QPR, but that doesn't pay the bills?

What does will be the advertising etc on his site and if the PL clubs' global appeal leads to click through at a higher rate than QPR's....then it's just business I guess.

I just don't get Twitter!

I went on it once at the suggestion of a friend at BA, because I had an issue with them and their customer (dis)service weren't responding. 'Tweet them. They'll act then!' Bloody did too.

But I never hear anything positive about Twitter, and everyone seems to moan about the idiots on it. Plus, anything that gives people like Trump and Barton a platform isn't good, and then I look at Musk and think: would I go for a beer with you? And the answer is no, my caant radar screams avoid. And he's a dangerous one at that!

If you're able to cut out the political/negative crap and just focus on the things/hobbies you enjoy, then Twitter is actually quite fun.

Could say the same about life in general!

Interesting comments on RFI regarding this situation:

"Rumour was Les was his mole.

Now he's gone, no scoops and drops the line about decisions had to be made as there is other London clubs.

West London Sport is the name Dave. Bit of a clue."

And:

"Interesting stats on WLS engagement over 3 months...

QPR content 3,300 to 6,200 views

Brentford - 92 views

Fulham - 671 views"

I think the key take away is that QPR fans are far more engaged with WLS than fans of othewr clubs, therefore for Dave MC say that he his dropping coverage of QPR in favour of the 'bigger' clubs is disingenuous.

I know, but whatever the outside stats say, they don't have all the knowledge, do they? YouTube views is just one metric. He will have lots more as the owner. That's my point?

I don't really get the McIntyre attacks. No-one has paid for anything, he can do what he likes. People are just jealous that he has / had an incredible source inside the club.

laughable to say Les was a mole for Dave Mc, he was getting scoops for years before les was on the scene, he's just a very good journalist

He did say it was a number of factors as to why coverage has reduced but people want to only focus on one of them, we have no idea whats going on in Daves life and why he took this decision, people should lay off the man

Twitter = Decentralization of the media. They're losing their control, and they don't like that.

I find it really funny because the exact same people who made Twitter a thing, spent years telling us all to get on it....are now telling us it's too dangerous because they don't like some of the things people say on it, usually about their mates. I think the vendetta against Musk (And subsequently twitter) started when he called that Diver bloke a "Pedo guy" - The Media didn't like that one bit.

I find it all hilariously entertaining. But probably because I see it through the "Right wing conspiracy theorist" lens rather than the "Liberal type who only believes things are true after they've been published in the media" lens.

Well, he's probably not the one making the decisions in WLS, I'd guess?

He's not the owner, so I imagine he'll go where they well him to go.

Dave has been a journalist for 25+ years (I remember him doing his NCTJ certificate while on the QPR list in the late 90s). He owns WLS but it is not his main income, nor Ian's, not remotely. Dave's patch as a sports reporter is West London.

So if he or Ian gets commissioned by the BBC, for example, to cover Fulham, Brentford or Chelsea because they are in the PL and therefore of interest beyond WLS, that's what they'll cover because he/they get paid properly for that. They do not get commissioned to cover Championship strugglers QPR at home to Rotherham by mainstream media. WLS is a side hustle done for love: but if doesn't pay the bills, it probably barely pays for itself. Independent sports journalism is not a nationalised industry, alas.

So, not remotely disingenuous. It's the economics of journalism in 2024, which some bum-fluffed keyboard Twitter basher giving Dave emoji grief wouldn't grasp even if it was tattooed on their hands.
