| Harry Kane 20:52 - Jul 1 with 8620 views | numptydumpty | Appreciate there is an England thread and also appreciate we are on a QPR fans forum, but i think its got to be said Harry Kane is quite an incredible footballer. His figures at club level and in internationals are insane. You never ever hear any dirt on the guy either. I believe his wife he has been with since his school days. He was incredibly.loyal to Tottenham and look how they have been doing the last two seasons without him. With better players around him at Bayern Munich, he has taken his game up a level and the guy seems nerveless also. Has also become the leading voice for his players and yet he is not as lauded as Gascoigne was, or the likes of Beckham and Rooney. I still very much doubt we will get much further but clearly with Kane amongst England ranks they will always have a chance. If he wants to spend his semi retirement back in London W12, anyone got his number ?? [Post edited 1 Jul 21:04]

He helped change the whole discourse around England. I have done England H and A for 20 years now and after Iceland 2016 we were at an all time low. The golden generations last hurrah. Him along with Southgate then completely quietly changed the culture through being humble and working hard. The way he has got better, every single year, year on year and now had his best year at 33 years old, shows you what he is made of. His leadership is underated, as is his workrate. He is a complete football player and I love him.

He will wait and when it happens he will say all the right things and have his wholesome moment with his family that aren't plastered all over the place. Beckham was a great player but a shit bloke. Kane is a great player and a great bloke.
| Harry Kane on 14:31 - Oct 27 with 926 views | BrianMcCarthy | I tuned into the Barca-Real game on Sunday and that smug latchico Guillem Balague was blathering on in his smug I-know-more-than-you-do smuggy-drawl (of course you do, it's your job!) about the number of private planes he knows are booked to go from Barcelona to the awards ceremony. Jesus. Private planes. Awards ceremony. In the middle of a season. Jesus. | |

| Harry Kane on 13:55 - Oct 27 by Lblock | Agreed but..... no way that Warnock squad wins the title in 2011 without the mercurial talents of Senor Adel Tarrabat Much more difficult these days but sometimes team's are carried by one stand out individual. |
Stand out player, true, but he wouldn't have that league medal without Derry and Faurlin behind him, Helguson beating up the CBs, Hill organising the team and the loans of Walker and Routledge as additional cheat codes. Plus a manger to manage him in a way nobody else could. He won FA the rest of his career, before and after, so value of that team framework far bigger than his talent. Plus Paddy Kenny was voted POTY. I admire players, can enjoy their individual skills and whatnot, but it's teams I cheer. Still, good on Harry Kane! Would he swap it for winning CL or WR medals in 25/26, though, as some of his losing competitors picked up...?

An Arsenal fan, but was very much saying Kane deserves all the accolades that come his way. No flash Harry, very grounded man, who just does his job exceptionally well. Top man, indeed. Individual awards are weird, though. Football is a team sport. You get medals when your team wins, no other time counts. No fan can be invested in individual awards, can they? Really? Nobody is singing about someone's POTY bauble are they. Nice do at the end of a season, of course, but come on. Found the level of hype around it yesterday mentally ill. It's the Fabrizo Ramonofication of football. Here we go! Who is going to win an award judged by, checks notes..."a specialized panel of international journalists." Great players leave average teams so they can win real medals in sporting competition with better teams. Like Bayern Munich. Stan Bowles is arguably QPR's greatest player, had a tremendous few seasons in a brilliant QPR team including our highest ever placing - but he got relegated with us three years later in a dog awful team. I love a great team. Find the fetishising of individuals above teams very odd, a bit sick and it seems to be much more prevalent now than in previous eras (when there were also some good players). |

That season we still had Parkes (until February), Clement, Gillard, Hollins, Francis, Bowles, Eastoe (until March), useful squad players like Busby & Shanks plus emerging youngsters like Roeder who we'd signed in the close season (and Burtenshaw initially didn't play) and Goddard. That team should have had enough to stay up.

Would Argentina have won the word cup in '86 without Maradona? Would Argentina have won the World Cup in '22 without Messi?

Outstanding players in great teams. And of course, they won it in 1978 without either - and in fact, without an outstanding superstar. Kempes was great, but a team player. Could Harry Kane win a medal with Spurs? No, he had to join a better team. Would he have won the PL had Man U dug deep for him? I suspect not. He had to join a winning team.
