A good friend of mines daughter had the same condition Sadly it was not the happiest of endings - Gianni Paladin came to the funeral with a load of signed QPR memorabilia and blue & white flowers, Clubs and players alike go up in my estimations when they take time out to perform acts like this..

While it was the photo his family tweeted, the Mail, especially its website, are appalling at sexualising children - they love calling 14 and 15 year old daughters of celebs "leggy" or describing them as "all grown up"

Jermain Defoe on 12:46 - Feb 10 with 2613 views | nix | The QPR players, manager and backroom team were absolutely amazing to my terminally ill 23 year old nephew who tragically died of cancer recently. He was invited to training, met all the players, as well as ?Ircham, Holloway and Ferdinand; Jamie Mackie, as you might expect, was particularly amazing and spoke to H, for nearly half an hour. Both Bircham and Olly sent H video messages to cheer him up, and the club donated signed shirts for his local club testimonial day organised by his mates and gave a flag to put on his coffin for the funeral. Football can warm your heart as well as make you cynical.

WTF are you going on about ? Are the daily debates on Trump/Brexit not enough for you ? why do you have to make everything political or be offended by everything, yes you hate the daily mail and its readers we get it FFS this is a story about a young boy fighting for his life who is cuddling his favourite footballer, In a world of bad news and horror stories this is something that makes you shed a tear have a smile and reflect , but not you it seems , you have hijacked the thread with child sexualisation because it was in the mail the story could be in the daily socialist, or the Nazi evening news for all I care

Really sorry to hear that, Nix. I hope you and your family are all doing okay. I’m sure he had an amazing time with Rangers — and it’s great to hear about footballers taking the time to put a smile on the face of a fan going through tough times. My Old man always says the greatest gift you can give someone is your time and when you see players and management taking a genuine interest in the welfare of fans, it reminds you that football can be such a positive thing in so many people’s lives. I’m not embarrassed to say I cried when I saw that picture of Defoe. Heart-breaking and heart-warming at the same time.

The Mail is massively hypocritical. They publish articles expressing outrage at @QPR_Sue AKA Sue Perkins using innuendo on The Great British Bake-Off, then happily publish page after page of pictures of celebrities' wives in their bikinis. Just saying... RFA
| "Things had started becoming increasingly desperate at Loftus Road but QPR have been handed a massive lifeline and the place has absolutely erupted. it's carnage. It's bedlam. It's 1-1." |

Thanks Konk. We're all broken hearted as you can imagine. But it's amazing how even the smallest of gestures can make a big difference. We've shed a few tears along with our usual comparisons in SAR. I was touched by the club's efforts. Especially having grown away from QPR somewhat during the Palladini/Briatore days. It does feel like we've got our heart back a bit. What about Fulham. Do they do much for the fans behind the scenes? From the outside it appears like a pretty family friendly club.

My wife is a nurse on a children's cancer ward and she is pretty cynical about the motives for some of the celebrities who go round the wards. One female pop star in particular did not make a good impression with either the staff or the patients - but was splashed all over the papers the next day sprawled over a hospital bed looking gloomy... C;loser to home Caulker's African trip screamed of PR at the time.... That said she says the vast majority apparently have really good intentions and she has seen footballers moved to tears on a few occasions and the patients talk about visits forever more. Just purely on Defoe I'm sure I've read in the past that he would quite often turn up to his old school and have a kick-about in the playground with the kids so think he's got a track record for giving something back.
