Yeah Matt. Or Dorran Dorran as I like to remember him. He was a Bush Ranger regular who received so much ridicule that it bordered on being abusive.
He did seem to court the abuse sometimes though. The day the two towers went down, the old proper Battletank QPR dot org forum was all about what was unfolding in the U.S. There was one solitary person banging on about the fact he still hadn't received his replica shirt from the club shop. Now I not only remember where I was on September 11, 2001, I worry that Matt never got his parcel via the Royal Mail.
I don't mean to out him or anything. It's just a strangely fond surreal memory of that day.
Is he still branch Manager of McDonalds?

I'd forgotten the shirt. As I've mentioned before...I know who Matt Doran is, have the occasional chat, he's a little off the mark, but ok.
The story about the shirt sums him up. My fave was when he came out with something utterly stupid and cue a flurry of deserved abuse, ridicule and general piss taking. Then, as the board had just about finished venting, the soppy sod posted something along the lines of; I'm a little surprised that a 'respected poster' has received this abuse!
I was travelling with another QPR fan at the time and we were in an Internet cafe in Chile. Both on computers at different parts of the cafe, but we read his follow-up post at about the same time, and just exploded with laughter!
However, I was also of the view that he wasn't real for ages. Then I got back to the UK and the same mate I'd been traveling with pointed him out at a game. I couldn't hold it in, he looked like I'd imagined him to be and I was again, reduced to howls of laughter.
I will say this for him, we may think Trump has a thick skin, it's tin foil compared to Datt!

Yes Mr Doran is definitely a real person. He was a total wind up merchant and even now appears to slag off the club at every opportunity. But there was one character who was fictitious on the old message board. Can anyone remember their user name??? It was in the days when Bill Power used to post and I can remember BP getting really animated with said character when he offered them free tickets to an away match up North. They then asked if BP could give them a lift as well and it did not go down well! It was message board gold and had me in stitches at work. Does anyone have any news on Bill Power???... (Them were the days).

Trying to think who that was. There was a whole raft of fictional characters on the org (I had one - Dr Freud, he used to run a weekly spelling bee... :) ).
I'm a Facebook friend of Bill Power and he's doing well as far as I can see. Bill actually got me a ticket to that promotion winning game at Hillsborough, something for which I am eternally grateful to him for. And on the subject of Facebook, I accepted a friend request from Mr Doran as it felt churlish not to, but I'm afraid to say I surreptitiously defriended him some time later. Too many Burger King updates.

erm, lots of the posters had multiple personalities, I can't remember how many people I was, in those days of internet naivety, most didn't know how easy it was to find out who was who. My favourite name was Shenley R's, but I could only ask other posters if they were mental so many times.

Ah the age of innocence, when the likes of My Puch Maxi, Back The Sword, Chappers, Scaff and Zeus used to lay in wait on the .org
All those schizophrenics with multiple log ins who used to respond to their own posts.
And so few realised that in those days the ip addresses and emails of the logins were visible to those who looked in the right places.
Isn't that right Mr Cinzano
The thing I couldn't get my head around when I first took over the Rivals site was the sheer number of people who had multiple log ins and replied to their own posts. Some people were rotating six different sign ins.

One of them still posts on here! Chappers has given up football in favour of cricket (along with Back to the Sword) and it's Scaff's birthday today, funnily enough.

Some very strange people, and ego's
Often wonder whether the Drummer Boys forum allows multiplicity, there are some very psychotic threads and folk that inhabit that board.
