I’ve only been once and that was enough for me.I think it was March 78.The police made us walk the long way to the ground from the station past pubs full of locals lobbing abuse at us.I got trodden on by a police horse in the commotion.The locals were throwing stuff at us from the other side of the terrace,including pool balls,Stanley broke his leg and we lost 1-0.

Yeah, When I went in the 80-90’s it was very edgy. Still somewhere I wouldn’t suggest taking the pis s, but very different these days. Just after we moved over here, I went out on North Street before a Severnside derby and there were plenty of Cardiff fans in colours walking down to the ground with no hint of bother at all from the locals. I think it’s a great away day, these days. Well worth doing an overnighter. |  |

I love the trip. Mind you it is made easier by meeting up with Brizzle mates. Best trip for us was starting in the Quayside then jump in a boat / taxi to some rough old sawdust n Cider pub with them. Rarely in the ground for dead on 3 at this fixture. | | | |

I briefly lived in Swansea when we got drawn against them in the cup at the Vetch. They were bottom of the whole league at that point.

first times I went to ashton gate, 76/77, 77/78, one of them years bowles broke his leg.
went by train one season, the other on the kinghams coach....mental days.
the one on the coach we stopped off at a pub on the way back, think there was a wedding reception going on, didn't end too well, we were all thrown out.
the two home games them seasons were mental as well, one was a night game and went off in sar.
the other season they had had free travel for a about 8,000 of them....three or four mobs of Bristol were taken out of the loft before ko….could have been nasty. phil parkes had a dart thrown at him from the school end. | |

My son was at Lancaster & we were away to Blackpool on the day to take him back to uni in January.
The winds were a howling in the open temporary area for away fans.

It depended on the game and how important it was?I think we half of the terrace there and brizzle had the other half.So I’d guess between 500 and 1,000 were there,but we hadn’t played them for a while so that might’ve swelled the numbers a bit.
I went to Birmingham away on a Tuesday earlier in the season and there was about 50 of us scattered all around the ground.
Those were the days of Daphne Biggs and the football special trains,so the club might have more of an idea on travelling numbers than me.
There were some bleak journeys on those trains and it was chaos sometimes outside the stations unless we all stuck together.Windows sometimes got smashed on the way home.Sometimes by home fans and occasionally by our fans after a bad result. | | | |

One year (mid / late 70’s), they turned up in big numbers due to ( I thought) 900 getting free travel (club reward to fans?), this prompted many more to come, ended up a huge barney outside the Springbok, which continued on up to the White City. The following season they came with their usual support and we gave ‘em a bit of a surprise, orchestrated by Christie Hardwick, on the School End terrace. | |

I remember that well - they did have free travel and thousands turned up. The only slap I've ever received at football was on White City platform when one of theirs crossed the central train track (bright lad) to show me what's what.
