Good to see Masterson get on in the 2nd half, he looks assured and good on the ball as he did against Swansea. Worth putting him in starting line up against Leeds. We don't have the luxury of loaning out defenders as we have such a shaky defence prone to errors. All Brentford's goals today were defensive errors.

Our best centre-half today by a considerable distance.

Earlier in the season with so many central defenders ahead of him in the queue I understood why we would consider sending him out of loan. However we now have a shortage of fit central defenders so Masterson deserves an opportunity.

sounds like he's going to be loaned out but it's a difficult one, Barbet and BFG likely to be back soon so will he play that often for us, i'd personally hold off loaning him until Barbet is back fit

He looked good and soon as he came on he started telling other players where they should be.
First 45 minutes I’ve seen of him and looks like we have one here. I’m impressed

However..... his positives also showed a huge negative I think we’ve had and carried last few months and that’s the erratic form of Grant Hall. He’s no “leedah” for me and he’s looking increasingly disinterested as the season grinds on. Such a shame as I thought he was a great player for us when fit

Cherish and enjoy life.... this ain't no dress rehearsal

LB,

Just one observation on Hall from the two games I saw live over Christmas - when Rangers concede Hall would go silent. BFG was the one talking to teammates, clapping, encouraging.

I like Hall as a player but I'm not sure he's a leader. BFG and Cameron are. Wallace, too, I suspect. Good to hear that Masterson is vocal.

It was Halls inability to look for a pass which led to their 2nd goal.

blame Lumley all you like but Hall dithers, passes it to Kane who hits it back to Lumley with some force. Lumley then flights his clearance to the half way line which gets caught in the wind....2-0

Anyone see sam johnston wba almost calamitous goalkeeping error not to mention Brentfords keeper fartarsing about which we couldnt capitalise on

MASTERSON looks composed on the ball is efficient with his passing and has pace

Looks a talent but easy in a way for him to slot in yesterday given the carnage which proceeded his introduction. The horse had well and truly bolted. No need for them to press as intensively etc. Also the movement of Cameron to the protector in front made a big difference to our shape which would have helped Materson.

I think a loan is the right move with him earmarked to start preseason with us. 20 games now will do him the world of good in his development and benefit us longer term.

Agree with this, Phil. I made the same point yesterday on the Fred about the lack of pressing in the second half. Good point also about Cameron.

We dont know if Brentford took their' foot off the pedal'.....what we do know is that Masterson came on at half time and looked very comfortable indeed.

Personally, I dont want him put out on loan.....I want to see him play in the first team more often.

Lets not over hype him he's played 1.5 games for us

Let him go out on loan away from the spot light and be ready for next season it worked for Eze & Chair and hopefully Smyth when he comes back

Good posts, both.

I think that only watching training and U-23 games can tell where he is in his development. Management will know best, regular watchers like Smegma will also have a great idea.

It looks likely that BFG is back for the next game and Hall is captain. With Cameron and Wallace as cover and Barbet also due back at some stage, perhaps a loan move is likely.

I've liked what I've seen so far, though, but I wouldn't be getting carried away.

We’ve got nothing league wise to play for now this season, keep him here as a sub, bring him on when the games won or lost and give him 90 mins in mid table games.

He lost Watkins for the header that looped on top of net but otherwise looked sound and kept his position. No need to send him on loan.

Given the reaction by some fans on here towards young players who have the odd bad game, there's every need to send him out on loan.

Bare bones.

I’m not sure that’s fair. Given Kane’s aversion to defending I’d consider throwing Kakay back in now he’s back.

I saw him lose a header straight away he should have won if we want a BFG type performance in the air from him. After which he won at least one header. So, maybe he was just getting into the game.

In any rate, he was better than Cameron who is not fast enough and Cams is clearly much better in midfield where he started to dominate Brentford.

I would play Masterson until BFG and Barbs are fit. You need 4 CB's in the Champ, as we have seen there are injuries and suspensions. Cameron is not a CB, he may have gotten away with it as he's such a good player.

Kane was very impressive. Tough and smart in his positioning. If this is due to coaching and they have improved him permanently then we may start to see a tougher defence protected by Cameron. This is the hope anyway.

Agree Brian. QPR must move away from nominating captains based on length of time at the club. Leadership qualities are paramount to the role.
