Will some players play better or worse with no fans in the stands !!! 02:27 - Jun 20 with 1270 viewsnumptydumpty

Its going to be a very interesting few games ahead

I just wondering whether the fact the games are being played behind closed doors will this effect certain players

On a positive note I feel perhaps a player such as Jack Clarke - a young guy who only played a couple of games and did not have the best of times in first half this season - potentially a lot to prove and without the potential pressure of negative comments - could be chance to show the skills both Spurs and Leeds feel he has.

Perhaps Hugill also - although done reasonably well - not to the level he clearly rated by west ham at one time..

Amos too - was showing promise and almost a pressure free few games to build a reputation.

Will Eze try more tricks than less - very often we hear about such players showing much more in training than they have achieved in the games

But are there others that may be impacted slightly negatively in their performances ie players such as BOS , chair, Manning - they had the crowd behind them and it has seemded to inspire them in their performances

Obviously this is never going happen again but they are not the practice matches they may appear.

Almost like some kind of weird social experiment

Whatever it will be very weird - is this really happening !!!!!!!

i heard Martin Keown talking (Staking his house out - illegal use of simian hormone boosters), he said that some players, brilliant in training, are totally different come match day.
Maybe Brian Croft was ahead of his time.

Shame we don't still have Sean Goss, all his years of youth team football would have been perfect prep for playing in front of now crowd.

FWIW I think that if you go behind it may be more difficult to raise your game and recover the deficit.

I would imagine the crowd have a massive effect on player's confidence/concentration. When things are going well and you're a crowd favourite, it must give you a huge boost. On the flip side, if you're a more sensitive soul or in a poor run of form, you must half dread the ball coming to you or an attack coming through your area of the pitch. Just waiting for the abuse to begin. Human nature.

I'll get on a players case if they're unfit, don't bother tracking back or chasing balls (Darren Bent), but I would never give a trier stick. If they're not good enough, but play regularly then it's either because there's no-one better available (often the case in the good old day's at Fulham) or because the manager appears to have some weird thing going on, where they see qualities than no-one in the ground can see. Which could be because they're a different animal in training.

Getting at your own team is entirely counter-productive. The best/worst case I've seen of this was Joe Tortolano at Hibs, who had some Hibby clambering past people during the warm-up to tell Tortolano to fu ck-off and that he was shi te, which would have been bad enough if he was playing, but he was walking up the stairs of the Main stand using crutches with his foot and ankle in a protective boot, and months away from playing again.

Hugill is our top scorer (who is still at the club) with 11 goals so I’d say He’s done more than reasonably well but yes, will be interesting to see how players respond to their being no crowd. I reckon there’ll be a higher percentage of away wins over the course of the remaining league games across all FL divisions.

I'm hoping that Hugill scores a few more before returning to wet spam. he's a solid pro who definitely try fcking hard and doesn't hide when things are going wrong... I have a slight suspicion that the fact he has had his stay extended is an attempt for our east london neighbours to use him as a make weight in signing the genius that is Eze.... it wouldn't be the first time they have tried to strip one of our main assets in a swap deal.....

Oh, mate! I'm gonna bite because you've had a few digs at our crowds in recent months.

Fulham all-time average: 16,065 (MASSIVE)
QPR all-time average: 13,396 (Not as massive)

The last time you had a higher average than us was 98/99 when your average was about 400 higher than ours. Our average crowd this season is a few thousand higher than yours despite us only have 3 stands at the moment. You can have a pop at atmosphere, but you're on very shaky ground if you want to have a dig at the size of our gates.

I wonder what our All-Time Reserve Team is? (players with most appearances)

Goss is No. 6.

i wouldn't recommend digging on shaky ground

Interesting question. I think there are definitely going to be players that thrive with the lack of crowd. Someone like a Lumley, If picked, would be a candidate for this or Jack Clarke, as you mentioned, may see more of the ball and use it better than he’s done so far on his brief appearances.

Above individual performances, I’m more interested in the impact on style. We know the Manager likes to play out from the back and at times guys have come unstuck as a result, often with the nervousness of the crowd getting to the players. Removing the crowd impact should see more passing moves starting with Kelly and be a more true reflection of how the Manager wants us to play. Will be interesting and could be very successful.

I don't know the answer, but in normal times, anyone who makes it at QPR must have the ability to ignore the crowd.

In the late 70’s used to go with couple of Fulham mates from school to your Friday night games and the crowd I’m sure was around 2,500 for most games.

Place was like a graveyard and still was in the 80’s, remember we had a Liverpool loanee and think we won 2-0 in front of about 6500!

You actually changed to Friday night games as you couldn’t compete with us, Chelsea and even Brentford on a Saturday afternoon.

See, Baz! This is a legitimate point-scoring dig that us Whites just have to cop sweet. The clappers are utter wan k.

That said, thankfully we don’t have goal music and ‘Gladiators’ dance celebrations when we score at home...

well, we have an answer for the OP.

Better if you're Barnsley, worse if you're QPR.

Poll: QPR to finish 7th or Brentford to drop out of the top 6?

Only one home win and six away wins in eleven fixtures today. Only one in four in the Prem as well.
