The goal scorer is the one whose legs get tangled up with the defender and he brings him down.Nearly every time that happens it results in a free kick being given to the defending team.
Why it wasn’t given as a free kick,especially with var in place,is anyone’s guess.
The records will show that it didn’t matter in the end after the 3rd goal went in,but if city hadn’t been chasing the game so much,the keeper might not have made such an error.
Sterling should’ve buried that chance though to make it 2-2 56 seconds before the 3rd goal goes in.

Told people for most of the week Lyon’s odds were ridiculous and they were worth a punt. I don’t bet online and got them at 10/1 - stuck a whole £5 on it. After a few minutes of the game a mate checked this exchange thing (I’d never heard of it) Lyon were 15/1 - he put a nifty fifty on it. Made for a tense evening. Ended up with whiskey and dancing. Here’s to you Sterling.

Good post LythamR that shove by Walker is normally called every time once the forward is ahead and I felt City got away with that .Walker was bad all game and didnt react well for the opening goal after keeping his man onside .It was a stunning finish though .
Pep messed around with the line up and it bit him allowing Lyon to control the game and his back 3 were a disaster IMO.
Sterling missing that wide open net finished them and the 3rd goal was inevitable .
As usual VAR just added confusion noting is changing for the better it seems. | | | |
