'"People much cleverer than me will say that the wage bill follows the league position, but I can't think that way," said the Newcastle boss.
"We have got to think differently and find ways to still win games to upset the status quo and finish as high as we can.
"That will always be my belief, and that was my belief from day one in management. Football is played on the pitch - not with the money."
"I have always had the belief that, whatever situation you have, you have to try to outperform your resources. You have to try to overachieve. You have to stretch every ounce of energy and effort from the squad that you have."
"We believe we can still achieve great things - regardless of what financial restrictions there are on us."'
On the BBC today. I wish we had his positive thinking and ambition at QPR!
Question now is how do they react to today? Do they sulk and feel sorry for themselves and end up lower mid table? Show them all the footage of Wrexham celebrating like crazy. Show some backbone and react and go on a winning run. Always darkest before the dawn….
Hopefully he can spend the time doing some professional thinking - and maybe learning how to cross a ball, given that his coach seems unable to address the problem.
However, am I alone in thinking that 2nd yellow was harsh (if avoidable)? Their player made a real meal of it, and I'm not even sure it was a foul.
Clear shirt pull by Thomason on Kone - right in front of the ref, who was clearly incompetent or corrupt (or I guess both) on the day. Kolli also culpable for getting nowhere near Windass. Depressing on both counts.
I have hardly hid that I'm not convinced at all by this manager, but, surely, people will agree this interview is just so deflating. Just repeats his 'we have to learn' mantra, without giving any insight at all into WHAT we - and as importantly HE - is learning. His inability to even acknowledge the collapsed 2nd half and self-defeating backfootedness that in the end handed Wrexham the game is seriously worrying. He just looks in a comfort zone to me and speaks in the same cliches again and again.
We'll see what Coventry begins next time out, but 'I think it will be difficult for the players' is hardly fighting talk, is it? I wouldn't back him to 'find a solution' right now if a memo reading 'this is the solution' were taped to his head!
Meanwhile, I've given up asking for standards because this coach, and this club, just don't show me any.
I understand it's probably not the most relevant discussion point today - but what is it with QPR and our fixation with having a minus goal difference?!
I'm sure some stats person can correct me if I'm wrong, but from some quick research I believe the last time we had a positive goal difference (excluding 0) was DECEMBER 28TH 2022. Just over three years ago.
This season we have been teetering on it for about two months, but can't seem to get into positive numbers.
If anything it demonstrates that we are much more prone to a thrashing than a demolition job.
Game should have been put to bed at half time, we played very very well and then a couple of our players went a bit quiet in the second half. Mbenge red changed the game but to be honest, he really doesn't look suited to right back position and hasn't done for a few games. Wrexham were good value though, helped by a ridiculously lenient ref, and certainly know how to rifle shots on target from distance. But overall a great game and we played well enough i reckon...very disappoiting.
What can you say, we were winning until a total bellend saw red mist !! I was actually speechless when I left the ground ! Wrexham were bang average and we should have won that game!! Also the big mouth tit in the toilet blaming it on Walsh, just fk off you total arse!!
First 4 goals Inter score here on their fightback just shows how to cross a ball into the area. The pass through the lines for the 5th exquisite as well but wow, those first 4 crosses are something else.
On the BBC now. About as exciting as our recent performances. Both teams at the wrong end of the table and it shows. A Croatian kid on loan from Spurs in Hamburg’s defence by far the outstanding player. And the famous atmosphere is just repetitive drumming and smoke.
Hi all - im looking to take my son to his and my first away game - Southampton next month , I assumed buying an away ticket would be straightforward but it seems not. Or am i missing something? , cant seem to buy away tickets on the QPR site or SFC site. Any suggestions gratefully recieved . Thank you
Yes a local game (for most not me) but Friday night on Sky, team not playing particularly well at the moment, bloody cracking effort if you ask me. Glad I booked my hotel and train fair early.
Chaps/ladies I'm looking to move on my dust gathering collection of QPR programmes. Not counted them but would guess about 100 or so. Largely dominated by the 80s, cup final year probably every home programme and a few away and then spread across other years from the 70s through to current times. I will keep one or two for sentimental reasons (first game Coventry home in 73, cup finals, play off final etc). Free to a good home if someone will cover the postage. Any interest?
Really obscure now. Songs that may bring derision. Found this earlier today after years of trying to remember it. Originally discovered in the Town and Country, as part of Wendy May's Locomotion set. It's just as great as I hoped it was.
