One place above the relegation zone on GD.

Would quite like to see them go down.
Another club deemed to be 'plucky' when they won things but actually broke all sorts of rules all over the place in terms of their new stadium, getting promoted to the PL and so on.

Doesn’t six points seem light?

Especially compared to what we got, and for that matter compared to other similar breaches by other EFL clubs.

I don't think there's a one-size-fits-all punishment. The rules chopped & changed so many times over the years it all down to when the rules were broken and what punishment is suitable for there and then.

Reading got a points deduction and then another one a few months later and they were then effectively relegated.
I don't know the in's & outs of Leicester's situation but who knows, maybe there's more to come?

They've got away with that one, should still stay up

They've got off lightly there, and it's ridiculous that something which was being openly reported when the fcking season previews were being written in July has taken until February, 30 rounds of football and seven months of the season, to finally confirm and sort out. Everybody has known all season Leicester would be losing points, February 5 they finally get round to doing it. Farcical.

.... and yet we are still nowhere nearer to hearing about Manchester City's 115 charges.

I know there's a lot to go through blah blah blah but surely it should have all been sorted out by now. It was three years ago tomorrow that "the Premier League referred a number of alleged breaches of the Premier League Rules by Manchester City Football Club to a Commission under Premier League Rule W.3.4.".

The richer the club, the better lawyers they can afford.

There's some new insight on the Man City case from Kieran Maguire, here:
https://www.manchestereveningn

He's speculating, but the points deduction, if there is one, could be 40-60, or more, points.

That "if" is big enough to be visible from space, though, in my view.

"Things had started becoming increasingly desperate at Loftus Road but QPR have been handed a massive lifeline and the place has absolutely erupted. it's carnage. It's bedlam. It's 1-1."

Luton Town’s most significant punishment was a total 30-point deduction imposed for the 2008-09 season due to financial irregularities and breaching administration rules,

Well they had to wait to confirm that Leicester had no chance of promotion and then choose a number of points that would not realistically put them in relegation problems.
Leicester obviously knew this in advance: you don’t go and offer a massively expensive contract to Jamaal Lascelles two days ago if there may be a chance you’re going to be in League One.

Six points is fairly farcical too Clive. It’s so insignificant.
You could almost create a business plan to spend ridiculously to have a real tilt at promotion and the riches of the prem, knowing that if you fail you sometime have to take a six point medicine.

6 points... really means nothing in the championship.
If they have a manager who can handle 3 game weeks, then they can make that back and some in the space of a week

Yeah, 6 points is a farce. They’ve clearly looked at the league table and the way Leicester’s season has gone and given them the lowest total they can potentially justify, which will have no impact on their league status.

I want them to go down now. They should have received 12, and then had to work their way out of it.

As others have said, this sets a dangerous precedent which is encouraging everyone to gamble as the punishing for breaching is so light.

One rule for the bigger clubs and another for the little ones. The Luton punishments were always cruel and out of proportion, designed to kill the club and the fans.

Never knowingly right.

From what I can glean, the independent commission’s logic for setting the point deduction is as follows.

Leicester are an EFL club, so the EFL sanctioning guideline should apply. These state:

The penalty for breaching of the 3 season P&S reporting rules is a deduction of 12 points to commence in the season following the breach.
The following number of points shall be deducted from the 12 points
9 points if the breach is less than £2.0m
8 points if between £2m and £4m
7 points if between £4m and £6m
6 points if between £6m and £8m
5 points if between £8m and £10m
4 points if between £10m and £12.5m
3 points if between £12.5m and £15m
No deduction if the breach is greater than £15m
Then the balance shall be further reduced if the loss in the final season is less than the season(s) before.

Arguing that those reductions are based on an upper loss limit of £39m and that Leicester was actually £83m because two of those season were spent in the Premier League, they worked out the percentage overspends based on that scale.
Leicester’s breach was £20.8m which is an overspend of 25%, so equivalent to £9.75m against a £39m limit, therefore they got a 5 point deduction from the original 12.
This was reduced by 1 further point as their losses were reducing, hence 6 points.

Great that we're still paying off a fine for something that happened over a decade ago and could have broken the club while others get a slap on the wrist. Wonderful stuff.

I always got the feeling our one was revenge for the fact we were fairly obviously guilty of the Faurlin stuff too, but the EFL had backed themselves into such a ridiculous corner by literally leaving it until the last game of the season that they didn’t have the balls to go through with it at that point

I remember thinking the last time they got docked points, “Well, that’ll learn ‘em”.

I need a SAGA. What’s the SAGA? It’s ….. Queen’s Park Rangers.

EFL should really punish them and subject them to two transfer windows of 'Arry Redknapp.

That should liquidate them for a few years and most likely ensure a relegation or two

Lets also remember that Leicester have been fined previously after they broke FFP in 2014, so surely the penalty this time should be more severe for a repeat offender?
