The Ray Wilkins match thread. on 15:53 - Apr 7 with 2259 views | BrianMcCarthy | Midfield lose it again, like the first, and we're caught on the break. Hernandez shoots against the crossbar and it comes off Smithies' back and in.

Fair enough. I can see that. I don't have much faith in Sylla but I think you might be right that we need a traditional No.9.

The Ray Wilkins match thread. on 15:56 - Apr 7 with 2109 views | jonno | The usual ludicrous team selection for the first half - will need to be changed at H/T. I wonder whose stupid idea it was to even think Eze can play up front on his own? Usual story - after about 20 mins Hull realised we can't score against them and started pushing forward. They really aren't very good but we've given them confidence by not putting them under any danger of scoring. Crazy, and another away game given away.
The Ray Wilkins match thread. on 15:59 - Apr 7 with 2013 views | timcocking | Are we really playing with nobody up front? My stream has been down so often i can't be sure. Is Eze supposed to be playing as a lone striker? Whichever way around it is, not great in the first half. Round pegs square holes again.

Eze is doing a terrible job leading the line . It’s not his fault, it’s ollies. Eze is not a solo 9 Eze drops deep to collect the ball.... when he does, Hulls backline pushes up, squeezing space in midfielld When he doesn’t, qprs central midfielders need to move up the pitch to support ... but when we lose the ball, mass and Scowen are too advanced, and it’s hull countering straight onto the Center backs Manning has not done anything so far. Not the game for him w this system I’d bring on sylla or smyth for manning ... maybe smyth bc we need bis ball winning skills...

Eze's playing as a withdrawn striker with Manning and Pawel tucking in. It's not really come off so far though he's had a few nice touches and did get lose in the box only for Hector to recover very well. The big problem we've had is that our midfield have been overrun and have given the ball away twice while our back four have been pushed too far up the pitch. Plus we're not dealing with Hernandez at all.

Not a great choice by Ollie In his defence, it is possible that syllable doesn’t have the match fitness to start and play all 90 minutes

You can't accuse people of hating just because they're baffled as to why he didn't start with a striker.

True, too. It didn't work, but no-one on here - including me - said it was a bad idea before kick-off. Worth a go.
