Freeman 07:54 - Apr 11 with 5947 viewsozranger

Ok, now that everyone has had the fun of congratulating a well deserved win, what was happening with Freeman last night? The whole team played well, except for Freeman. Surely he wasn't missing Luongo. On too many occasions he chose the wrong pass, gave the ball away or instead of moving the ball forward on a breakaway, he swivelled and eventually passed back. There were times he was quite annoying. Has he lost some confidence or didn't have the confidence in those who were in front of him and Bright next to him? I do hope Ollie finds out what is wrong and fixes it as he is a fine player but last night he was at one of his worst.

Love Freeman player of the season for me, but...

You can literally see his ego running alongside him on the pitch at time, and when its going well and he's the main man, thats fantastic, when its not going well or someone else like Eze, Smyth or Pav are shineing, then he overplays, takes far to many touches and stops being a team player, its that and those little periods he goes through when he decides there is a certain player he is not going to pass to that game for whatever reason, that will hold him back from going right to the top of the game and is probably the reason why he will still be with us next year

He nearly scored another superb goal again though...

Andy Sinton is good at finding the right word for a player. Earlier this season he described Freeman as 'wriggling' past oppo players.

Don't rule out fatigue

Freeman's played nearly every game.

When we played a 3-5-2, he was asked to be our creative spark and also be a ball winner in a midfield that was regularly overrun. thats a lot on one player's shoulders, and its no surprise his play has dipped a bit

Freeman is still our best player. Hopefully next year we spell him more

Just to add stats to this, Freeman has started 40 of our our 42 league matches, and made one substitute appearance. The only game he missed was due to suspension for yellow card accumulation

he's played 3460 out of 3780 minutes (been on the pitch of 95% of the total minutes)

he also played in both our league matches and our fa cup loss

QPR fans are odd.

He drags us through the league with 40% of our goals: not a peep.

He has a blip: 30 posts.

On a side note - Have we scored a direct free kick this season? I am struggling to recall one. Freeman's delivery from wide areas is sensational, and he has plonked it right on Smith's head countless times, but I can't remember an occasion where he has put it straight in the back of the net.

The less said about Scowen's set pieces, the better. Must score absolute worldies in training, because every time I've seen him hit one it is straight into the wall or high and wide.

First half of the season he performed very well indeed and was almost our single driving force. Second half of the season has seen a marked disappointment in his overall game play in that he just won’t release it, despite others offering him better options. Statistically, he has also proven to be less effective.

First half: 3 goals / 9 assists
Second half: 2 goals / 3 assists

Total contribution stands at 17 goals. Or 32% of our goals. Also interesting; of those 12 assists, 5 have been crosses, 4 have been set pieces, and 3 have been key passes.

Maybe he read this forum after Christmas and thought ‘what’s the point? These ungrateful bastards don’t give a shit’.

For me he has been the club's best player for most of the season. He played just OK against Wednesday.
His game (apart from dead ball kicks) is attacking the opposition with the ball.
Sections of the crowd were getting frustrated with that last night.
They should appreciate him for what he is, rather than moan at him for what he isn't.

Yes, quite. He's been our best player all season.
