None of our three regular strikers are perfect, far from it. But they all offer something. Dykes: workrate, Gray: speed, Charlie: guile. In combination they keep oppo defences honest, and they make space for our more skillful players. I actually prefer that to over-reliance on a single 15—20 goal-a-season target man. |
Charlie/Dykes/Gray have what, about 20 goals now between them. Just like having 1 go to striker, they all do their roles. But we are much more dangerous because we score from all over the pitch with other guys like Willock, Chair, Uncle, even Dickie. | | | |

I thought all six in defence played very well - and needed to against an impressive side playing attractive football. The difference between the two teams yesterday was Willock. He showed his extra quality with the two assists. I make him MOTM. If he had been playing for Coventry they would have beaten us. | |

Willock performance another big positive answer to the question, "can he play effectively without Chair?"
All the defenders stood up to be counted, its a decent unit now, Warburton seems to have found the right blend, if we can keep them all fit our play off chances have to be good and Field returning to optimum performance level is a big bonus.

Think if you look at the bench you see why the manager wants re-enforcements. Other than Charlie (massive asset) it doesn't contain a match winner. Thomas is a trier and Amos is tidy but neither are going to turn a match. Again that depended on the brilliance of Willock to set up Albert (who was my MotM).
Imagine if we cd get someone like Lawrence - the options that would give us. Think that would transform us from being the kind of team that has to hang on against Coventry to actually kicking on and saying "we could win this by a few". |
