Think that so much falls on his shoulders when Willock isn't available, must be incredibly difficult.
When they both play together it is one of the strongest attacks in the league (Prem quality in places) but if one isn't playing it puts so much pressure on the other as they are the creative pace and spark at the heart of how we play. Reflects so well on Chair that he pushed through a difficult game yesterday to pull things out of the bag for us. |  |

Lack of options is just not true as Roberts (and even Dozzell) were able to find options for quick early balls that opened up Sunderland's defence,
Up to the 85th minute was Chair's worst performance I have seen for us and the first time I have heard the crowd show their frustration with him continually holding the ball too long. I think this is an inherent flaw in his game but also exacerbated by our 4-3-3 formation which I think doesn't suit some of our players, particularly Chair.
First time ever I saw him so frustrated he was'nt giving his usual 100% and he showed this frustration just before his superb free-kick by almost getting a Red-Card for getting involved in something he didn't need to.
Whether this re-focussed him, he then immediately produced an absolutely superb free-kick and his reaction afterwards showed how pumped he was, then producing a very good cross into the danger error for Seny to score.
Delighted for Chair and surprised to hear Beale say that why he keeps him on, as we all knew this, but let's be honest and not pretend the reason he will never be a plus £5m footballer is like Luke Freeman, he holds onto the ball too long.

I think we agree last year's formation with wing-backs suited Chair better as an easy out-ball to Wallace was an option,
I think we'll disagree with whether the root cause of the problem is with Chair (like I think) or the ability-level of his team-mates (like you think)
I get we were trying to win the game and this point is harsh but when we win back possession before Sinclair's run, Chair received the ball, head-down, in a dangerous area and whereas a head-up player (Willock) will play the easy 1 2 off Roberts, Chair doesn't see him, tries to beat his man and loses possession, fortunately to Dozzell who we all know can pick a pass when given the time he likes, harsh point but Chair's Achilles isn't his passing, it's his head-down and looking at his feet too much, probably why he's also such a good ball striker. | | | |

Agree about his will to win, but really believe his price cap is £5m unless he can be coached to get his head-up, a footballer of his ability should not need to look at his feet to take control of a pass, look at Willock when he receives the ball, his head is up and he can run with the ball with his head-up (like Eze did) whereas Chair runs too often head-down.
Still, we win both ways, as successive coaches hav'nt fixed this so he'll stay with us for the next number of years and be a good championship player OR the coaches fix it and we sell him as a £8-10m player he really can be. | | | |
