Anyone going?

Not going, but it’s the one week a year I get involved horse betting. Usually a few resident experts I follow on here. Anyone got any tips?

Yep. There Tues, Wed and Thursday again. Heading down early doors tomorrow.

Expecting a lot of rain tomorrow morning which will turn it heavy, I’d suspect. Therefore my picks if you’re starting afresh, even though they aren’t what I want to win (given my AP bets) would be:

1.30: Tullyhill (but want Firefox to win)
2.10: Gaelic Warrior
2.50: Trelawne (but want The Goffer, ground going heavy not ideal)
3.30: No bet. State Man wins. Not so Sleepy probably places
4.10: Lossiemouth wins but Gala Marceau might place at a price
4.50: Bright Legend
5.30: Embassy Gardens (but want Salvador Ziggy)

If the ground was normal soft or towards GS, I’d put up the ones in brackets.

Good luck to everyone though!

Heading down tomorrow. Always go first day with friends. My racing knowledge is beyond non-existent, but it’s a great day out. Hopefully weather will ease off before the first race otherwise my Guinness glass might get flooded!

going today; usually do a few days but have an audit next 2 days.

Friday in local pub (live in a big racing community) for the day which is almost as good as being there given how busy friday is.

this rain can kiss my hairy arse!

Thanks Hunter.....I go racing for fun but only pick horses on names and numbers so your tips are good for me.

Isn't Cheltenham week usually when the weather turns nice?

The rain is definitely going to scupper a few ante post picks today.

Just the one bet for me – Mares Hurdle 4.10, Ashroe Diamond to beat stable mate Lossiemouth (and hopefully the rest of the field too!)

Trainer form is a massive worry though

Prior to the fest his horses were running very poorly.

His horses' form today: PU/PU/3/PU/PU/PU

Now, heavy ground I'll admit, but he was having tons of PUs prior to the festival, Constitution Hill ruled out with an illness and rumours abound about a virus in his yard.

DTG's form is great (Betfair Hurdle form is fire) but I wouldn't go near Hendo's runners atm - including Sir Gino on Friday who missed work in the run up to the festival

Whilst I prefer Stay Away Fay in the 3m novice chase, everyone is gonna be on the Ballyburn/Fact to File/El Fabiolo treble - be fun to be in on it, maybe whack your Paddy Power and Hills free bets on it

Also worth perming top trainer's jockeys rides in yankees and lucky 31s - Mullins, Elliot and DeBromhead's horses all ran very very well today. Whack Townend/Kennedy/Blackmore's rides in little multis

Feel for you - WIllie basically put his son on Ashroe to run her as a pacemaker for Lossiemouth

He's pulled three horses from today with a written statement. You have to avoid his now

I think you have to do the shortie treble today, though I would give Stay Away Fay a good squeak given F2F hasn't been tested at the distance. I personally need Ballyburn for 4 figures, so week made if he bolts in

14:50 - Jigoro 12/1 each way
16:50 - Sa Fureur 8/1 each way, Triple Trade each way
17:30 - You Oughta Know 10/1 each way, Fleur Au Fusil 12/1 each way

Langer Dan in the 2:50 - won it last year and has been trained for this again - was hoping for bigger than 13/2 but decent chance IMO

that's your week sorted!

went yesterday but didn't back the fav's so a poor day for me. weather was pretty crap too; unfortunately work commitments dictate I'm watching form the office today and tomorrow; then the local pub on Friday

As a lifetime racing fan, I think jumps racing is in serious peril. The animal welfare crusade will only grow and Cheltenham's racing, meant to be the pinnacle of the sport and competitiveness.....is turning into Formula 1. Send the Mullins horses out and watch them win at 1/2. Never thought I would say it, but it is getting horribly monotonous. Even the bookies might start to suffer and push everyone towards the more certain profit to them of online casinos. English fields are getting smaller and smaller away from Cheltenham....not good!

I've backed Jigoro e/w, although only got tens.

No pressure Rob

it's in mortal danger, but from itself. The jumps programme is too bloated for the horse population, trainers prioriise swerving each other rather than competitive racing. Loss limits will savage the amount of money coming into the game, and bookies will drop it. I give it 10 years, 5 if JP dies unexpectedly, he's single handedly propping the whole thing up at the moment
