Rest of the Championship thread by Hunterhoop 10 Aug 2024 11:07Toyed with this idea last season. Shall we have a thread to discuss, comment on, cover the rest of the league? A place to discuss other teams’ results, performances, financial implosions, etc?
For example, last night, anyone catch either of the first two games? I didn’t. But somewhat surprised/worried Blackburn scored 4 given how they are meant to struggle. Was it Derby being utter sh*te?
Sounds like Preston are continuing in the same vein of being incredibly dull.
Clive, what do you think? Worth making a sticky? Might reduce the number of threads to manage.

It would be incredibly annoying if yet ANOTHER London club, who has spent most of their history a league below us, goes past us in the pyramid and into the riches of the Premier League, which, if they play it right, secures their status and competitiveness for years to come. There would only be Charlton and Orient left, Barnet and Watford (at a push) left.

No love for Wimbledon or Bromley? We will be in real trouble if Bromley ever motor past us.

Good point. I’ll accept Wimbledon, although they had to start at the bottom of the entire pyramid about two decades ago, so we’d really be going some to be overtaken by them. I’m not having Bromley.

It’s so annoying when he shouts the name of a player just taking a routine shot. That combined with Andy Hinchcliffe’s droning tones stating the bleeding obvious it’s insufferable.

No idea, pretty random! Presumably one of those free to air games that appear from time to time. Still fancy Boro for this as well , as long as they cut out some of their errors.Love the way they play aggressive front foot football

How many serious injuries are you allowed in one season before the EFL and other clubs lawyers start taking an interest in our playing surface? One of the main objections to artificial pitches is that there's an increased likelihood of injury to players. We are single-handedly disproving that objection.

Hmmm yeah a bit like in cricket you get penalised for a sub standard pitch. Although given recent weather a lot of pitches are looking poor - but there definitely seems to be something in ours with the mix of natural and non-natural grass.

I was being semi-serious. Pitches are checked before every game by the referee and officials from both clubs, but I don't know what sort of checklist they use or how thorough the checks are. But footballers are expensive assets and they have a powerful union. If a particular pitch has a large number of injuries then people outside the club might start taking an interest. If a pattern were to emerge in the type of injury or if they were happening in a particular part of the pitch then that might raise some interesting questions. But maybe we're just unlucky. Or cursed!! :-)
