Footy pubs in Paris 05:38 - Dec 13 with 626 viewsHooparoo

I’m in Paris for the next few days and heading to HQ for the Leicester game. Anyone know any good pubs to watch football in Paris? We’re staying in the 2nd arrondissement. Thanks in advance 😃

There is nothing good in Paris

I thought London was turning into the dreggy shithole of Europe before I went there; my God what a place. Awful.

Good luck and watch out for the hugger muggers if you’re a bit tipsy

Cherish and enjoy life.... this ain't no dress rehearsal

I used to work for the Wells and Co chain of pubs in Montpellier, and they used to say that their two most authentic pubs were the Shakespeare where I worked and the Bombardier in Paris.

Given the strength of the euro and the relative cost of beer, it'd be expensive but I reckon that could be a decent place to go. I never went myself, mind, so no guarantees!

The Bombardier was a decent pub when I lived there 20 years ago. Lots of Irish pubs around too and a couple of decent Scottish pubs.

I reluctantly agree re London. My patch - Hammersmith, still has good pubs (thank you, Lord), and the riverfront, but is pretty poor otherwise.
I used to love the place.

Long time since I've been but there used to be a couple of British style pubs in the Les Halles area.

Thanks mate. I found an Irish pub nearby so might have a beer and a laugh watching the Tyne/Tees derby.

People who declare they hate Paris are a bit like people who say they hate London - it's usually because they don't know it very well. It's a fabulous place once you get to know it - like London, you get street-wise and gradually you get to know where to go and where to avoid. As for sports pubs, I can recommend the following.

Long Hop - 25 Rue Frederic Sauton (Latin Quarter) - English-style pub
Belushi's - Gare Du Nord - Burger/Beer place, good value, open til late
Bombadier - Pl du Pantheon (South of city) - Another English-style place but plenty of locals and students
The Bowler - 13 Rue D'Artois (Near Champs Elysees) - As above
Thirsty Mad Cat - 120 Rue Montmartre - Very lively; happy hour deals 5-9pm

Be sure to get the Navigo pass (like Oyster), which makes using the Metro quick and easy.

Bon voyage

100% agree. Paris - like all the great European cities - once you know your way around, where to go and what to do is an absolutely magnificent city where you can eat, drink and be very merry on not very much. And it looks beautiful, too. I loved living there and go back regularly. Sorry if someone on this thread had a bad weekend there.

Likewise, people who don't or no longer live in London slagging it off can also go very far out to sea and then get in it. Leave London to us please: it's as good as it ever was, better in many ways. It's you.
