He'll do well to do anything there IMO. Apart from a brief blip under Paul Hurst they've basically been a club in decline for 20 years.
He inherits a poor team in bad form (no win in 15 and they recently went six without even scoring a goal), no money to spend, abysmal facilities, a bit of a loon as chairman and an ongoing on-off takeover situation, and in a pretty bleak part of the world that it's difficult to persuade people to move to. Drive for an hour in any direction from Grimsby and you're still only in Doncaster, Lincoln or Hull.

Fancy taking over a team with a club in such a state, oh wait...

2001 He is mad.

But he did say he would only ever take one job back in management so a bit surprised.

He wont have to worry about Steve McClaren nicking that job of off him.
I might have spelt of off wrong, then again I might not of (off)
The return car journey to Grimsby is worth it for the bloody fish and chips alone, the QPR results are not worth the journey at all.

Love the fact the press release mentions his record doing well at "unfashionable, underperforming clubs" !

An hours drive due east is probably the most appealing.
