Seems like a decent campaign:

Yes, I wish this campaign every success. With Boris Johnson being such an ardent, dyed-in-the-wool lifelong football supporter it has every chance.

Come on guys, this needs your support!

The six are grovelling at the moment best time to try and gain influence for the other 86 clubs.

That's great and I've signed up. I'm a little worried that s being driven by the mayors of Manchester and Liverpool, it could be perceived as a bit partisan.

Earlier today I contacted the Football Supporters Association to ask if they'd be leading on a fans campaign like this but I haven't heard back yet.

I bought the book some years ago and I enjoyed it, though some of the ideas are probably a little if not dated very behind the times now.

Done. For now, at least.

Let's see how they act and behave.

Well, let's see.
But maybe the first thing the two founders need to do is to make this a broad coalition. If this becomes political, or even appears to be political, then it becomes restricted in its appeal and reach.

We complain about right-wing populism - at least I do - and now we're presented with left(ish) populism. It's almost disgraceful.

I keep reading over it, trying to make sense of it, there are more holes than the British Open...

... which i believe is 72...

This may well be the two mayors taking advantage of the current ESL fiasco to get themselves some attention ahead of their respective mayoral elections, but I have no problem with the aims. Burnham is an Everton supporter and has a genuine interest in these issues.

In the absence of any other campaign, I'm happy to support this one.

"some attention ahead of their respective mayoral elections,"

Yep, I hadn't even thought of that.

It gets worse...

Johnson spoke out against it, so did Corbyn. These two happen to be Labour.

Happy to sign up, as I would be if they were Conservatives. These are not ultra-left or right.

But - as I said above - for now. Let's see how this goes.

The FSA will also hopefully have a huge response to the ESL.

Burnham has more than proved himself to be sincere regarding football matters. I don’t know anything about the other bloke but I agree with the points they make. Doubt it’ll make a difference though. A couple of texts/WhatsApp/Facebook messages to those in charge and the owners will get their way.

You’re right Brian. I’ll happily give credit to Johnson if he tables the 50+1 rule even if he is of a different tribe.

On JC, Corbyn has had three season tickets with one of the clubs for nearly 40 years and opened the stadium with Prince Phillip. He promised 50+1 in his manifesto. He may be Hamas / IRA / Czech secret service but I don’t think he’s jumping on any bandwagons.

Actually, Bin Laden was a Arsenal fan too wasn’t he? Someone call the Mail.

Sorry, Bazz.

Wasn't suggesting that anyone has jumped on bandwagons.

I'm just saying that as football fans we take help from all reasonable quarters, and I include the two main parties in that.

Edit - I see you have edited your original post in order to clarify. This goes nowhere if we start digging up politics and the past. Nowhere.

Good stuff.

The FSA should be all over this. Free membership. It would take the politics out of it in a shot.
