| Who'd be a ref? on 20:29 - Oct 29 with 1260 views | stowmarketrange | When I watch my local non league club you can hear all 22 players in the ref’s ear all game.Everyone of them all see things differently to what the ref does. And they make sure that they tell him about it too.Even my daughter’s Sunday team was the same. I take my hat off to anyone who wants their time getting abused for 90 minutes every week.Except Keith Stroud of course. | | | |

I’d say coaches too. From my experience of youth football with my son, some clubs just seem to think acceptable to just yell abuse at refs. And a lot of the Refs are just young lads starting out. There’s too many parents and coaches trying to live their failed football careers through their kids.

Completely agree. You see some clubs enfore parents being respectful, and others where coachews and parents are shouting for minute 1 about every decision. I run the line a lot at my son's games, and the one thing I can guarentee and have seen at the 4 clubs he has been at, is that the parents who never run the line are always the worst! Ultimately, it all comes from the coach - they set the standards and the parents and players follow. I often wish referees would abandon games more often, or send parents and coaches off. Bad in the short-term, great in the long-term.

Yeah and every week you get people on here saying our players 'should be in the ref's ear more', 'we're too nice' and all that. Balls to that nonsense. Have some respect.

For sure from a Real perspective, with Mourinho as manager then it's hardly surprising. Really enjoyed the Netflix documentary about him - bottom line is that when it comes to football he just wants to win, and he's not too bothered what his teams need to do to achieve that.

My son played with the son of Trevor East, if Tiswas fame. His son had a go at the ref, so Trevor marched onto the pitch, dragged his lad off and gave him a good ticking off. Oh for more parents like that! Apparently Man City's youth teams will let parents watch their kids. But if the parents kick off they're sent away.
